I want the bars on my 00 x1 to sit a little lower. Crossroads look cool to me but more than i want to spend on bars, clubmans look like they might work but they look so low. What deminsions should i look for in a set of clubmans. And i knowbut i need help.

How much lower do you want them?
Drag bars with the right bend may work. Any 7/8" bar will fit the clamp. I'd suggest going to a Japanese dealer with dirtbikes and trying the available cheap (less than $20) bars in the parking lot. Or you could go to DennisKirk.com and read the dirtbike bar measurements there. These tend to be inexpensive options.

+1 on the dirt bars. Inexpensive and easy to come by.

Mark I've done the same thing as Mick has and went with Clubmans but I didn't like that weird angle so I pressed them flat. Viola ,cheap Crossroads or at least very close to their dimensions, but that may be too low for ya. Just an additional cheap choice.

SUPERBIKE BARS.....at least thats what they were called when i bought them.....they are basically a low bend dirt bike bar, i did need to make my bump stops bigger or else the horn button would touch the tank, im talkin a 1/4 taller, i used very thick mud flaps and cut a square chunk and double side taped it to the frame in the same spot as the oem little rubber piece

How difficult is it to replace the stock bar? Is it just a matter of removing stuff e.g., switch assemblies, mirrors, etc., and bolting them onto a new bar?

yup pretty easy......it can be done a bit easier if you put the grips on last!!! just slide the other controls onto the bars, oh and ya gotta cut the little nipple off of the start switch housing because there is a hole in the stock bars to keep it from spinning.

Thanks Limitex1. A great way to change the entire "feel" of the bike once the stock set up gets a bit boring...

Graham - wouldn't it be better to drill a hole in the bar, than grind off the locator nub?
Removes the need to tighten until the housing cracks.

Pretty tricky getting the hole in exactly the right spot , I just wrapped a bit of rubber splicing tape around the bar, gives em something to grip.
