Thats the same one as in the Classifieds.

Indeed, it is a White X1 Lightning, not an X1 White Lightning...

Court verified that its not actually an X1W...There were not X1W's made in 2001, just 2002 IIRC

From that thread posted by Court:

"Okay . . . let me see if I can bring some closure to this.

I was wrong yesterday.

The bike in the photo **IS** a 2001 X1 in Arctic White with the Nuclear Blue frame. At the time it was produced there was no "X1 White Lightning".

The idea, with the XB's appearing and the X1 on the way out, first debuted in 2000, the last year of the X1.

The above bike is a 2001 with a 2002 decal on the fairing. The decal on the air cleaner is someone's homemade decal, it is not a Buell piece.

It was interesting spending several hours last night digging through records, old build sheets and documents from the 12 month period surrounding the introduction of the XB.

I hope that answers the original question.

Court"

It's not your fault...it's the dealer who lied to you...I would have believed the same thing considering..

We're not ragging on you bro!

Yea, I know no one is ragging me , but I might deserve some. I think I got a few people fired up. I’d like to apologize for causing a controversy.

Just to be fair to the person that sold it to me, He is a little dealer that sells used cars and bikes.
He told me he got the bike at an auction. He also said He sells cars for a living, and bikes for a hobby.
I wouldn’t doubt that that’s how he got the bike and didn’t know the difference, either.
This guy had maybe 10 of nicest old triumphs and 2 or 3 mid 60’s Bsa ‘s in show room condition.
I asked him how much he wanted for the triumphs and said they weren’t for sale. His show room was like a mini museum.
He had the x1 as part of his collection for 2 or 3 years because he liked it. He is really into bikes and had no reason
to miss represent the bike. I think he never doubted it was a x1w either.

Even if it is not an X1W it is still a pretty low production beast and a unique motorcycle.

If the only differences are cosmetic (they are), and you've got all the "W" cosmetic parts on the bike, then it's a "W" model. Who cares what the VIN says.

It's not like you're one of those guys who thinks GT decals on a V6 mustang will make it faster.

Yea..I don't really care about the "w" part or not. These really are fun bikes. It's just kind of embarrassing to think that for 2 years I never figured this out. This is still interesting though, because there are other people claiming to have seen,or own a 2001 x1w. I hope there wasn't some guy running around slapping stickers on these things. This is the best reason I've seen for some sort of offical registery.

Yeah the VIN will tell all but I myself would rather have a clone than the real deal. I can't help keeping out of things. Someone in the future will be bummed that I "improved" a CF edition, but in my defense 10 years later and it's not worth anymore than a regular X1.

You didn't know so now that it's been revealed I'd say no harm no foul.
