This is still a Buell site insn't it? After that would be the obvious headlight and instruments followed by decent quality empty beer cans on the floor and if you can afford the Ducati, buy some god damm saw horses before you flip the circular saw into your lap! Other than that, dunno?I think we covered everything.

Torque is the correct answer. Looks to be a 620. I'd call it 1/2 a Buell.
I owned a S2R 800 Monster a few years back. Even after extensive mods still didn't have 1/2 the testosterone of my M2L that I owned at the same time. The Ducati was a nice bike in town but when it was time to get crazy and get the adrenals pumping adrenaline I always grabbed the M2L.

Aren't the Duc tail light and signal lights the same parts as on the tubers? I recall hearing that Monster owners were saving a ton of money by ordering the Buell part.

Tod - send me a PM, as I may have some of what you need.

I got a smashed up beer tray (did any body know that’s what duc-ers call the equivalent to our cheese graders- golly all Wisconsinites ought to have a xb and a monster in their garages; ) ) most of a front fender, custom bent headlight and mounting ears, speedo and turn signal bits give me your shipping info and I’ll send them right out!!

The Monster uses the same tail light as the Buell X1. They have them for sale at American Sport Bike.

story behind this bike. I guess it all starts way back in 01 when I just about bought a Monster preferably 900 till I found my 96 S1 which will always have a place in my stable. Then A couple of years ago my buddy from upstate NY called me up and let me know he was going to stop by on his was back from wintering in Jackson Hole.
I sez “great I got a spare bike so I’ll show you the area”
Kev sez “cool ya know I’ve been thinking about getting a bike… maybe like your buell your always talking about.”
I knew without another word being said that I had just went from owning a S1, S1W, and an R1 to owning a S1 and an R1-and the R1 was the only bike that was supposed to be for sale!

Well he fell in love with it as soon as he saw it
After a weekend of following me from Madison to The Mississippi and everywhere in between he was hooked.
We hashed out a deal, part of which as I had schemed since he first mentioned the word buell I Agreed to ride it out for him, with my trip costs being part of the sales price.
So June 25 05 was a story in itself that entailed amongst other things 1229 miles in 21 hours from Spring Green Wi. to Hudson New York on a dead stock S1w twintail except for the tires, square battery and race exhaust I swapped when I got it but I digress.
The ride wasn’t as punishing as I expected, in fact after getting there at 4am I was up at 10 going to work with Kev on a D9 cat the size of a house and other similarly gigantean earth moving equipment as I has the year earlier when I met him in midst of a 8 month walkabout.
The next couple of days I shared my limited knowledge on the rougher points of S1 repair and maintenance, one of my main bits of advice/ no, Recommendation numero uno was to keep the belt properly adjusted a.k.a a little loose because dropping the engine to swap it was not an enjoyable day.
The day after I got out there and after endless cajoling on my part to find me some wheels we got hold of our mutual friend Pete, who was on the west coast. He was coming back in a month to ride his 1999 monster 750 dark back across country. Pete was hesitant but willing to let me borrow it if I did some maintenance (needed an oil change, a new chain and tires). Man I was stoked I’m yet to find a better suited bike for me then my S1s but I rrrealy wanted to check out this EYE-talion job, it was second on my want list ya know. So after a quick run to get a filter and oil and some time spent ebaying for tires and a chain we were off. Two wild and crazy kids on a white lightning and a monster dark tearing up the asphalt all across Ny, Mass and the surrounding states.
Ok in all actuality Kev was a great rider who wrung every bit out of that triple white hottie he had his legs around. I did my best to keep up but didn’t have a chance, Bald azz tires, a whooped chain and being in need of valves being set/carb cleaned, or both didn’t help me much. (neither did riding a sexy looking pooch I so wished I had my own girl betwixt my legs) Every now and then after 10-20-60 minutes of solo riding I would catch up to kev snoozing at a stop sign.
We had a couple of grand days working, riding, and rounding up parts to get the monster in better form. All was going well until July second when Kev went to show his dad his new toy on the job site. I waited at the bottom of the breaker run road as Kev went tearing up passed his dad did a half assed donut, started back towards us snappin her like a bra BRAAP BRAAP, then I heard a moment of WOT then all kinds of revving and swearing and not a lot of happy sounds. Yep no belt anymore.
Well we had big plans with a couple of girls that holiday Weekend so there was no time to waste. As soon as we got her home and I went straight to the internet and phone to find a Go500.AAE belt and a pair of swing arm isolators at any local stealer. By noon the next day we had her going back together like a street walkers legs at minute 61.
As Kevin’s whole extended family got ready for a big holiday meal I went to get some lock-tite for the Isolator bolts, 12 miles round trip to his dads shed and we would be set.
Kev's mom made damn sure I had my helmet- me being from Wisconsin believe the wind in your hair is part of the whole ambiance of riding 2 wheels of freedom but the law is the law. She was none to excited to see this new menacing chunk of alloys be back on its feet, owing to the fact Kev had decided to use a Volkswagen to tear the forks off his last bike, a radian at about a buck o’5 a couple of years earlier so I guess she has that right.
Through Philmont under the Taconic parkway to Claverack, grab some like-tite and back the other way. Nice easy ride only passed a couple of cars never even hit 70.
As I come into Philmint I am right at the posted 35 because I saw a coupe cops had some body pulled over on a side road as I left town. I look up to see a car stopped to my left about 50 feet a head of me, I see she’s looking right at me at the intersection so I scan the rest of my surroundings . Now I’m 30 feet away and she’s pulling out to cross RIGHT in front of me. I grab a hand and foot full of binders, jab on the left handle bar hoping this car might stop and I can swing around it, but nope my new trajectory is going to put me right on her front bumper so I straighten out grab some more asbestos and boom the bike meets rear fender and I bounce off the rear door.
The whole elongated.75 seconds I was thinking “your are not going to do this to me yournotgoingtodothistome, yournotgoingtodothistome, YOUJUSTDIDTHISTOME! With pictures of Kev's whole family patiently waiting for my return and Peter counting down the days to his epic cross country trip in my mind.
As soon as I bounced of the car I pulled my flip flopped foot out from under the bike, lifted the bike up put it on the kickstand, walk a few tight circles and wonder at the blind stupidity of some people (some may question mine for my riding attire but hey it twas only 12 miles round trip). When I look around I notice 3 or 4 small town coppers sprinting towards me from the probable drug bust (or krispy kream delivery) just down the street. It put a huge grin on my face to see this tubby man of the law sprinting full out at me, what the hell was the hurry- I already lifted up the bike up so nobody was dying, but whatever.
As I explained what happened one of the boys in blue really started grilling me and pretty much wasn’t believing. I found out it was because one of the cars I passed told them I went hauling ass by and thusly they were confident I must have been speeding in town. Thankfully one of the coppers cleared up their suspicions by way of stating he had witnessing what actually happened.
I spent an untold number of hours during the next week trying to get the insurance company moving so I could get it back together for Pete to no avail. Months later Pete got paid off, found another Bike and I was able to get her for about the price of a Pro series exhaust system. Got the bike to Wisconsin last fall and a week ago when I finally got to put a wrench to it I realized nobody had touched it since that day. She’ll always be a pooch but I think I can make her look pretty cool on the cheap and hey I got a spare for any of my friends that come around.
