Is it me?  I don't get it... Why am I having such a hard time finding a slip-on exhaust for my 98 S3? Vance & Hines has #5014 listed for 96-97 then skips right to #5414 listed for 99-02. No mention of 1998... This is info I got from americansportbike.com. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/5414.html I am seriously at a loss here.  Can someone explain this to me please. Thanks. | ||

One of them will fit, depends on the collector size, 96-97 was 2" Not sure if your bike has a 2.5" collector | ||

Call Al and ask. I'm guessing it's just a typo in the model year range of one of the pipes. | ||

98 s3 has 2.5", for the most part, any 98 or newer slip on (tuber) will work, you might need to play with the spacers at the mounting points to get them lined up, but all should be close. | ||

Sweet! So I'm not going crazy after all. haha! Thanks gang! Yeah, the entire exhaust is stock now so that being said I should go with the slip-on that fits the 2 1/2'' collector for the 98 correct? | ||

Hmmm... well how can I be sure? Can I just bust out the tape measure and get a Circumference of the manifold pipe? Whats the easiest way to be sure? | ||

What is the circumference of the 2 1/2'' pipes? Anyone know? Or close enough to their bike to let me know? I could just measure mine too then to be sure | ||

a US 98 S3/S1W pipe has a 2.5" collector, as does the 99 and later. However, they are NOT the same V&H muffler. The angle of the collector is slightly different between the two. We had a few of the 2" collector versions a while back, but they're all gone and I just removed them from the site. I have ONE 98 S1W/S3 V&H in stock, it isn't on the web site. Same price, $295. If someone wants to order that one, just order the 5414 and say that you want the #5412 98 version. I can't get any more, it's discontinued by V&H. When it's gone, there are no more. Al | ||
