OK, I'm getting started on prepping my '02 M2 for the upcoming season. It works great except it frequently "pops into" first gear when pulling away from a stop. It doesn't pop out, it seems like it is not engaged fully and then goes in with a bang. There was a thread about this, which I can't find. If it is a shifter adjustment or shifter drum problem, what parts will I need, if any? If I need to, I'll pull the tranny out and inspect the dogs but I want to have anything else I might need in hand before I start. Also, I want to lighten the clutch. Apparently there is an XB spring that works? Anybody know the p/n? And finally, what part numbers do I need to replace the grenade plate? And what else should I do while I'm in there? Thanks!

To replace "grenade plate":
(2)steel plates #37913-90
friction plate #37911-90

2006 XB diaphragm spring #37934-06
(Might also want to look into a "Clutchlite" for about $25...changes the ramp angle to disengage the clutch.)

*check out ChicagoHD's website...their online prices are significantly lower than HD list price.

Sounds like the pawl may be messed up due to a faulty retaining ring. The Baker Smooth Shift kit replaces this with a bolt tapped into the new drum. Runs about $270 for the Baker though...

It's a Uly spring.

Funky shifting might just be your detent plate.

I just did that Uly spring swap, and it really works. Clutch is noticably lighter.

OK, thanks guys. Now I need part numbers for: the snap ring for the clutch diaphragm, the good metal primary gasket, the gearbox gasket (in case I take it out), a muffler clamp, and the good exhaust port gaskets. Sorry to be a pest but I don't have a parts book and I don't want to do the Buell parts dance at the dealer. Also what front brake pads are best for street riding?

Hey, Fasted, I'll take the parts book. I already have the shop manual. I just assumed there would be a gasket for the gearbox. You take Pay Pal? Thanks!
