I have a 95 2s with a battery charging problem. Was riding and it started missing had no lights then died, couldn't restart it. Bought a new battery ran or for 100 miles got home couldn't restart had to push start, then same as before with missing problem. Does that sound like a problem with the voltage regulator? or something else. Has anyone else had problem like this before?

Suffice to say that you are NOT the first to experience this scenario.

Could be a host of different things.

Start with simply checking the stator wiring and connections between the regulator and where the wiring goes into the case just on front of the starter motor. Fix any bad stuff.

Could be the regulator is toast, and/or the alternator.

Get out your service manual and start testing things. Or get it to someone that has the know-how and tools to check out the various components.

service manual will be the best money you can ever spend, there are chapters upon chapters of ways to test almost EVERY part of the bike's electrical/charging system with a simple ohm/volt meter that can be had at any autopart store for less than $20.

trust me on this one, it has saved my wallet and my ass MANY times!

Check the battery ground cable at the battery. Mine broke off at the lug and gave the exact symptions. I took a torch and heated up the lug, bulled the broken wire out and re-soldered the wire back in. Off the bike! It was long enough with no problem to do it. Also, the original battery is loose in the holder, even with the clamp as tight as it will go. This is what I believe caused my issue. Vibration? not on a Buell! Add another layer of rubber mat under the battery to raise it it.
Good Luck!

There is a service manual for the S-1 here in the knowledge vault. It will have the same charging system and tests.

The main circuit breaker when it goes bad from moisture tends to cycle... Meaning engine will quit then after awhile you can restart then it will quit again... May be worth replacing since it is cheap....
