good idea or bad? replaced the rear with 180/55/17" continental road attack. thinking about the sport attack for the front. i have found the rear does not last as long as the front, so putting a lower mileage tire on the front for even wear sounds ok to me. anybody see any issues with mismatched tires? 99 S-3 | ||

My fronts always outlast the rears two to one. I'd be cautious mixing compounds front to rear. | ||

I'm running a scorpion sync on the front and a diablo strada on the back - because the front lasts so damn long. 12k miles now. I can tell that the tire profiles aren't designed to work together but it's nothing extremely dangerous like some people will tell you. If you're going to mix tires to save money, just take it slow and learn how the tires work together. Realize that you WILL be riding a different machine after changing tires. | ||

I am running the race attack front and road attack rear it is actually a nice combo. I was running race attack front and rear until back wore out. I like this combo it works well on the x1 for me! | ||

bird- how bad is the front race attack in the rain? could you even notice a difference between the road and race on the street? | ||

Um not really a difference that i could tell, Only time i noticed anything, Was rain on street paint or trolley tracks on the road Other than that they feel identical. | ||

Any opinions on Continental Contiforce tires? They are cheaper than both of the ones discussed above. | ||

Normal tire wear is 2 to 1. If you think about it, all the work is being done by the rear tire. And most of us rarely have the front wheel in full time contact with the pavement, ergo rear tire wear. | ||

i ordered road attacks. rear $129, front $107. now if i could only get the bike aligned somehow. | ||

I had the same question but with the Michelin Pilot Power left in front and a Pilot power 2C in the rear. The center of my rear tire is flat but my front is fine. | ||

just over 7k. I guess I shouldn't be complaining. My front is still cherry. |
