I would ask is it allready coated and you want to do it again? All it is is a coating for high temperature operation. And powdercoating is for regular temps. As I know it they sand blast the part and some prime and some do not and then spray the color or clear then put it in the oven to bake. Oh and also if you get the pipe done most do the coating inside the pipe and outside. |

it has never been coated, but it has been polished. i was thinking a ceramic coating would let it last for a bit and reduce my leg from burning at the stop lights.just curious on what that might cost. |

I took an X1 header, and D&D muffler in last week and was told between $245 and $275. The shop I took the parts to doesn't do the coating, they just charge less than the guy who does it for them I'll call tomorrow and find out what the final price is going to be. |

Coating will help. Jet-Hot is in my area and it is $200+. You should not be really burning your leg if you are wearing protective pants. If you wear shorts, WELLL, you kind of are an accident waiting to happen. After seeing and hearing about numerous accidents in my area I am now a AGATT guy. (All gear all the time). Buy some Jeans with the Kevlar liner and you won't feel the heat as much. I run an M2 without the heat guard and it is fine. I use Jeans with kevlar or regular pants with full leg armour under it. IF it is super hot 95+ degrees I cut my riding between 12-3. Just a thought. Ever see what a legs looks like after a crash from burns, road rash let alone breaks??? Ewwww.. |

I sent my X1 header direct to JetHot and it was about $150 - $175. On their website you can email them for quote and they send a nice packet of info with ordering/shipping instructions. Had it done in silver, looks great. CN |

the only time heat is an issue is at the stop light in july with my jeans on. i just hold my leg out a bit to avoid the heat. i had wrap around the rear exhaust at one time but the rear rocker started to leak. fixed the leak and the header was tarnished a bit. so i just polished the whole thing. |

That cool chrome knocked about 40 deg off my leg. My breather leaked a little oil on them and all you have to do is rub it off with mothers mag and wheel polish. The more you buff them the better they look. |
