What are you doing that you need that much more flow? I've never seen a street Buell that needed more than the right jets, a clean petcock strainer and kink-free fuel line...

If you do need to "modify" your tank, the petcock only has three holes, and 2 aren't even holes - the main one the filter sock sticks through, and 2 screw holes that attach it. I'd think putting a Pingel for an XL application (pre-03) would work just fine.

A quick google for "pingel fuel buell" brought this up:

Do not think you can get anymore fuel than the float needle(size of valve opening) will pass, no matter how big a petcock or hose size you install(for CARBURETOR models) !!!

With FUEL INJECTION one must get BRAIN BOX re-maped for more fuel(ie: run richer) ...

Stripedape:

Get the TPS reset which could be the problem ???

In the 2008 models(except BLAST) the computer(brain box has the automatic TPS reset programed in)reset it(TPS) automatically ...

So dumb arse engineer missed the boat on the 1999 to 2002 fuel injected models ...

Yup! No petcock if stock,

If stock check pump output and filter condition.

Err no they just improved the product as they learned more

Simple is good if it works ....

If it wasn't for engineers you would be walking your arse around instead of riding your Buell.

The BUELL fuel injecting system is a copy of the FORD system ...

The capability of TPS automatic re-set was there all along, all that had to be done was program it in !!!

The old TPS on the 99-02 bikes requires that you close the throttle body valve completely then zero it ....

the zero command could have been put in as some combination of actions that are fed into the ECM, the early ECM's dont have that many inputs. the newer bikes have more input signals and so it is easier to re calibrate the throttle position sensor on some combination of actions that the ECM can read.

In BMC's defense, it was not that big a deal to do, and for a first gen system its not that bad,

BTW the system was made by VDO instruments. As wonky as it can be at times It's better than a carb any day.

Part of the ISSUE with the EFI system is ignorance. once you understand how it works its, OK. My favorite quote from BWB was about removing the TPS sensor but be sure to leave it plugged into the wiring

the TPS zero establishes the ZERO position, input to the ECM after reading the mis post above My suggestions are
1. be sure that the pot is properly installed.
2. that the signal is changing as the loud handle is turned.
3. the correct procedure is followed to set Zero.

It is a BIG $$.$$ deal if you have a Dealer do it ...

Th BUELLers "i" know bought the TPS re-set equipment from Al(American Sport Bike) after having to deal with Dealers ...

Better fuel injectors and a large throttle body will make the fuel injection models run better !!!

And "i" agree that fuel injection is the best thing that has happened to motor cycles engines, "BUT" if "i" can not get the information to map it myself, then it is of no use to me ...

I remember the days when folks read stuff like this and believed it . . .

: )

I'd say both the below statements are equally accurate.

>>>>>So dumb arse engineer missed the boat on the 1999 to 2002 fuel injected models ...

>>>>>The BUELL fuel injecting system is a copy of the FORD system ...

>>>"PLEASE" tell us all what system it was copied after or from ???

Having spent 18 months riding various test configurations during the development I can assure it was copied from nothing.

Incidentally, the name of the company that developed the software has never been mentioned here either.

The system was not without it's faults, but it had fewer errors than most discussions about fuel injection.

Just saying . . . .

: )

Then "i" still say "FORD" because it is the best system(was at that time anyway), IMHO !!!

It took from 1999 to 2002(3 years)TUBE FRAMES and till 2007 with the XB's, IMHO with the TPS issue ...

Span of years total of 8 and "i" take it was with the same software development company ???

Think about this:

The o2 sensor should be in the collector or in each header pipe ...

Think about this:

How much smaller is the ECM on a bike, compared to the one in your car?

Packaging restraints = code and processing restraints. When you try and cram all the features of a car ECM, the size of a brick, into a bike ECM that's the size of a pager...you have to give some stuff up. Same with the sensors. I've got '80s EFI cars with AIS motors (what makes the auto-TPS and auto-idle set possible) the size of practically the whole Buell throttle body. Now...they're much smaller, and installed on Buell DDFI3 engines (with advances in the pager-sized ECMs to go with them).
