Would anyone have experience in raising the ride hieght on a 00 X1.

I have leaking rear shock on the bike currently, it bottoms out regularly on my urban commute. In addition, I feel the lack of dampening attributed the multiple front motor mount failures I've had over the last four years of ownership. The last two motor mount failures occured over the summer.

I have a used 00 X1 replacement rear shock ready to be placed on the bike now.

Has anyone ever experimented with using the shock mounts from older tubers' to accomplish raising the rear?

I'm assuming this could work, likewise to placing an older(longer) tuber shock on an X1 will lower it.

Reason of intrest: quicker turn in/ more front wieght bias/ aggressive street rider/ possible track day use.

Information appreciated.

try this,dont know if it would work,its just a theory i have had for a while,i want to raise the rear on my M2,
buy a west teck or similar front shock mount this lowers by 1 inch(on longer shock models) then get the shorter later X1 shock this is 2 inches shorter than the earlier shocks(measurements are approx only)the two together should raise the back by one inch,

The later shock should be threaded so you can adjust ride height. Undo one of the mount eyes from the frame (I don't remember offhand if it's front or rear, both my tubers have aftermarket shocks), and thread it in or out to adjust the shock length / give you the height you want.

standard oem shocks gave no ride height adjustment,my new AST shock has more adjustment than i know what to do with except ride height,

I don't think west tech makes the lowering link any more. but there are badwebbers who have made their own. send out an S.O.S.

yes,was thinking the same,just have one made,using your front mount as a pattern,with the mounting hole say half an inch further forward,see how you go with that,with the shock unbolted at the rear let the swingarm down till it contacts the rear of the swingarm mounting block to see how much you can move the front mounting hole,
also with this set up you would need to re-adjust the belt tightness as it will go slacker the further the hole is forward,
you could just drop the forks through the yolks a bit,try 5mm,this will raise rear ride hieght,but not by much but cost nothing,
