The project bike came with a set of PM wheels that have set out too long and have become slightly pitted and a set of gray rims with Buell stamped on them - I'm assuming castalloy? As much as I'm a sucker for PMs I really like the S2s with white rims matching the white frame. Since the frame is getting power coated anyway, is my best bet to have the gray wheels done at the same time? Does it make more sense to look for a set of white castalloy rims or perhaps a set of Marchesini? Someone mentioned powder coating the PMs, but it seems like that might be too much of a slab. | ||

Probably cheaper to powder coat you gray regular buell wheels.......rex | ||

That particular picture has got me considering Snap Red. Not sure where I saw it first or how good my copy is. Thanks for the post. I also like the carib blue, but have what looks like never used Parkway tank and tail. Gonna be a tough decision... | ||

Bluzm, I'd consider it. I addition to the pitting the rear wheel has a few bolts broken off in it, and from what I understand an eazy-out or two. I expect that wheel to be out tomorrow. I've polished on one side of the front and they'll look fine to most people. The last couple I saw on ebay were brand new and went for the low two hundreds. Mine may not be what he wants. Ebutch, I wondered what the newer swingarm would look like - esp since I have one in the corner. I like it. Was it an easy mod? | ||

Everything bolts-up.I used newer mount block but if old is used need to grind a little.New ark does bang on frame a little, but no handling issues.I am going to address this latter I think.Hope that helps Roger | ||

Damn,that is a nice S-2,Butch. Easy, just be aware that the newer swingarm will bottom on the frame if you are heavy guy or ride 2 up. | ||

Thought that was what the swing arm had stop on it for ??? What happed to adjusting the shock pre-load ??? | ||

I tip 190 lbs .Use white-power shock use to use latest Showa but wp uses heavy spring.Also max adjust for damping,rebound and mec preload adjusted in on threaded rods in 1".I prefer a stiff ride.I think and will try grinding away parts of frame that rub.They are 45 degree frame post to seat on inside of frame.Then reinforce on out side of frame.But as is excellent ride Even with a passenger | ||

Thanks Ebutch & FMJ. That's real good to know. Something I'll have to think about. I'm 170, and the wife doesn't ride with me more than once or twice a year. For now there's an S3 for that. | ||

LaFayette, the later arm is wider so contacts the frame uprights that come up at 45 degree angle from isolator area to seat area. Nothing to do with a stop or preload. Frame was not designed with that wide of a swingarm in mind. There was a guy at one event that had cut those supports away and Erik took one look at it and rolled his eyes,said all that engineering that went into the frame was just tossed out the window. Pretty funny. | ||

Well men I know post are there as frame integrity. But I think they can be modified.When I did it didn,t know about bang ishues.I wonder how much farther ark has to travel after hitting frame?(I think not much)I,ll find out after my shed gets warmer(now is 16 deg)I,ve only ben riding and banging 22,000 mls.LaFayette S3 is a two-up bike all day.S2 more a solo Euro style American Exotic Classic solo bike to me!I have rode a girlfriend all day on S2,she was a cripple after ride next day! |
