Today I got a new choke cable and I was putting it on. Well when i was pulling the carb off to put the cable on i noticed that it had gunk all over the thing. The gunk is very oily and I did have a leak in my head breather system before. Does any one think the gunk is from that or is it coming from my carb in some way?

Any gunk on the outside of the carb is from the breather, not the carb.
Only place you might find a bit of mung is at the throttle shaft pivot holes.
Maybe a bit around the accelerator pump.
