anyone try those pdf service manuals off of ebay? they seem pretty cheap and if you had a laptop could be pretty handy. I have PM'd someone about the regular one from the classifieds but no reply yet

I had a pdf chilton manual for my 93 Isuzu Rodeo.

Cool concept but it's a pain in the ass hauling a laptop around in the garage.

From now on I'll be sticking with a book so I don't have to worry about getting things covered in grime.

which manual are you looking for?

I have the s1 free manual, and whenever I need something I either look it up first, or print out the needed pages and go to work.....

To be honest, in the long run a paper manual will most likely provide the best bang for the buck, unless you are already experienced in Buell maintenance and repair.

I need a 00 X1. I have a laptop and I guess I am kinda used to using the computer as that is what all of our manuals are on at work. It just seemed like it might be a good idea

Ok guys, the idea behind the pdf is to print out the pages you need at the time of service,so you don't grime up a manual. Not intended to haul your lap-top around your work area while you do the job.

I like my grimey manual. It's an easy way to keep track of what maintenance I've done myself, and what jobs are still uncharted territory.

Bryan
They aren't as handy as the book but if you print out the pages you need. Then they are always clean. If you are old and use bifocals the enlargement function of the pdf is nice.

I prefer my manual simply because whenever I work on something the first time I make reference notes and put down wrench or socket sizes in case I ever need to go back later and do something again. The next time I'll know exactly which tools to grab.

Well, you can always print the entire file and make your own "paper" manual...

Is there a parts schematic book anywhere that shows all of the parts and part numbers? That would be really handy.

G, handy is not Harley. I think you'd be hard pressed to get pictures and part numbers all together, but there is a parts book with part #s...some of them actually match(synic).

The exploded view drawings in the parts book are usually pretty accurate.
Enough so , that you can tell sequence and orientation of parts like a full fork tube.

I think the parts book is as indispensable as the service manual... if you do your own work.

Would anyone be able to say whether or not the 00 and 01 service manuals are the same. Cause all I can find is the 00 pdf manual. Thanks!
