If they stepped outside on the way to work to find their bike LAYING ON THE GROUND! I don't know who the f*** did it, or how it happened, but I was hot to say the least. It looks like the only damage was a bent shift lever, but still... I guess I'll hafta bust out a big wrench and bend it back to place for now. I rode it home, but it was hard with the shift peg pointing to the stars.

Ross, that would tick me off as well. You might have something else to worry about. They might have been kids looking to nick your bike. They probably tried to roll it and dropped it. After all the S2 is not a normal bike when it comes to side stands. Buy a chain and lock, if they see that they will look for something easier to steal.

When my 97 S1 got nicked I felt like someone had ripped my heart out. I was out looking for it for two days when Lynn talked out of doing that and risking ending up in jail myself.

S2s, S1s, M2s and S3s are prime targets since they are not looking to sell the bike, they are looking at selling the parts for the chopper crowd.

Keep that S2 safe Ross...

Thanks Frank, I didn't even think about that. It was at my brother's house that this happened, which is a more questionable neighborhood than where I stay. I'll see to a chain and lock.

I use an HD rotor lock on my bikes when they're in unfamiliar locations. Has a pin that goes thru the front brake rotor and an orange coily cord that goes to the right handgrip as the "hey dummy, don't ride me yet" reminder. Works on all my Buells - S2 with EBC; S1W with stock; Uly with stock. Not expensive and fits in the S2 fairing bags with no problem.

Ross,
I have a Disk lock and an alarm from Internatix. It has a proximity sensor that you can adjust and has great range with a vibrating pager. You can disable the audible alarm if you would like the great feeling of having the scumbag have to figure out what the sound of a sear makes as you thumb a single action hammer behind his ear

Ross- Did you have it in gear when you left it parked? Soon after I got my s2 I parked and was walking away and looked back just in time to see the bike creeping forward off the stand. Saved it that time and always leave her in gear when parked now. You might want to straighten the shifter while you have it off doing the bracket swap, but you probably already did it that way.

I came out of a pub late one night to find my Buell on its side. I assumed some idiot in a car had bumped it while trying to parallel park. Then some bystanders told me that a couple of young drunks had been walking up the street and simply decided to push it over. Lifted it over the left side, bending the foot of the kick-stand doing so. Took the guy three tries apparently. And nobody watching made any effort to stop him. Cost about $1000 to repair. I would have ruined my new sweetheart's impression of me if I'd come out ten minutes sooner and caught the prick in action.
