What is the difference between the FI Forcewinder and the carb version? I remember there being an issue about the float bowl venting. There is one on E Bay that I am interested in but mine is carburated

i believe there is a small pocket in the mounting flange that has to do with the carbs operation, maybe thats the bowl vent you speak of. I'm not 100% here so hopefully someone who is a little more knowledgeable will chime in.

Es there is a section on this in the KV under the engines section

yes the little vent must be opened up.

Both elbows are the same.

The diff between the two kits are as follows;

-The FI air filter has a hole in it for the AIT sesor
-It has extra 'hardware' to cover said temp sensor
-the socket head cap screws used to mount the FI FW tube are metric as opposed to the SAE you will need for the carb

the vent cut out in the newer parts is smaller and needs to be opened up

Es: If you're looking for more 'go' then you might want to forget the whole purchase. I believe that if you look at the mountains of discussion that this particular item has generated, and some of the dyno graphs that I've seen, then you'll find that the Forcewinder, even with the addition of a race tuner and a pipe actually decreases the total 'go' of the bike....that is to say, it, too acts like a "Sunday Handkerchief" --all show and no blow.

The FW does add a little bit of power (not torque) but it is way the heck up there in the RPM range, 5500 and up...

I just added a FW on my X1. There are tons of people on the web debating the pros and cons of this intake. Here is my unprofessional opinion. I can't tell a difference in performance one way or the other. I wanted the OEM airbox gone to make the bike more naked...as long as I didn't lose performance I reached my desired goal. Now - I didn't dyno the bike before or after so if there may have been some small changes that were unoticable.The bike accelerates and wheelies the same as before. The breather line is now re-routed into the open which is suppose to give a slight increase in power. Maybe this helped gain back any loss.
Also I asked two top Buell shops and they said on a mostly stock bike the FW is fine.

I would think that a performance shop like Nallin would not be selling them to people willing to plunk down cash to make things go faster if they did not produce a benefit. I have a Hypercharger right now and have heard that while it may look cool, it is actually worse than the stock set up for power. I do frequently run my engine up to the rev limiter so that a performance gain above 5000 Rpm is still useful to me.

I have one now, but I was watching this pretty hard because the price is right. Been watching it since it got listed (I'm a freak about ebay and anything that has Buell in the title). When I search, I find about 5,000 buell related items.

With a FW, redone/custom type stock carb, race header, and D&D race muffler, I pulled something like 74-76 hp and 76-78ft/lbs.

I was pretty disappointed at the numbers, that's for sure. But I've got a race intake as well I'm going to try. piecing it together slowly.

But if air flow is "supposedly" the problem with performance of the FW then upgrades such as those on the Nallins' site would make the problem even more pronounced....The only thing I can assume is that because the older Forcewinders were smaller and reduced flow but the newer XR2's are larger and are ok.

I have a Forcewinder with a Mikuni 42 on my M2 and it works great. Is it the best? Don't know. But I am sure that I like the legroom and the thing looks nice too.

Brinutz, I would rather not do a bidding war against a fellow bad webber.I don't have alot of money to spend right now and was hoping to get them at a reasonable price. What do you think it is worth? If its more than I would spend I'll back off now rather than driving the price up.

I bought the FI version for my M2 because I liked the vent tubing setup from the heads much better. I ported the small hole and gasket on the unit itself and the bike runs great.
