Not sure if the S3 and X1 share the same ECM or fuel maps but my X1 did occasionally backfire even with just a V&H slip-on (SS2R). I ended up changing the stock maps with race maps via ECMSPY and the bike is so much happier now. | ||

The 1999 S3 and X1 have the same engine, same ECM and map. I'd definitely go with the race ECM if you change the exhaust. | ||

I have a 2000 S3 which I've owned since new -- You REALLY want to put the race ECM on -- Its like night and day. If Buell didn't need to meet Noise and Emission requirements these bikes would have come from the factory with the Race ECM a free-er flowing intake and a free-er flowing exhaust -- Thats why the Race Kit was offered -- they really do not run correctly in the stock configuration -- Don't forget to reset the TPS -- (Message edited by brokeneck on December 28, 2008) |
