I bought a car kit sirius radio on ebay for 10 bucks, have one in the car figure this could be a little project for the winter. i can jerry rig a mount, but wondering where i should hook the + and - wires to without draining power from something else. any idea's? anyone done this to their buell? pics would be awsome.

Check the amp draw for the cradle (shouldn't be much, I can check mine if you want), and the fuse for your instrument cluster lights. If the fuse for the lights is strong enough (probably 2.5A or 5A - again, I can check my S1W - I think it's the "ACC" fuse?), just tap into the dash lights. That way your cradle is ignition-switched and won't draw after you park the bike. It will also only kill a circuit that isn't *totally* safety-oriented (like a headlight), in case something shorts out.

Either that, or just direct-wire to the battery....just remember, you have to turn it off if you do it this way, or you'll kill your battery because the cradle will never be un-powered. Also, make sure to put a fuse on the + lead, as close as possible to the battery, in case you get a short or a rub on the wire somewhere.

It's quite possible. If you want something professional and billet no less holding it on there, I have a good friend that does one-off CNC pieces and he's very reasonable with his pricing. I had some custom clip-ons done by him for my sportster with an S2 front-end. As a matter of fact they are on my S2 now.

Well, my clip-ons were $225 shipped. Obviously, the simpler you design it, the cheaper it'll be. His name is Shane. He builds and sells Chainsikle rearsets for Sportsters, but he loves to build one-off parts. His website is chainsikle.com. His email is there at the bottom of the page IIRC.

I have the other brand satellite radio (XM). I use a tank bag and put the antenna in the top "flap" of the bag and the radio in the bottom. I installed a typical 12V outlet (cig lighter type) on the side of the instro panel. This hides everything but the 12V cord. Plug the earphones directly in the radio, I either use earphones with inline audio adjustment or adjust the constant audio level output of the radio to a tolerable level. I thought this was the "simplist" install for the S3 and allows easy removal. For the Valkyrie I made a bracket for a GPS mount and ran power via a relay. Want pics, email me and I will send once back in town.

i think i saw some mounts for bikes that could compensate on ebay. but for something that size why not just keep it on your belt or pocket?. i would have preferred personally to have a sirius stilleto which is iphone sized. but they dont get reception for squat in my area.

I would like a bar mount so I can utilize the GPS on the iPhone. Plus it's even better in areas with 3G because I can see the point moving down the streets in realtime. I know a lot of GPS modules have stuff like that standard, but how many of them also have an 8GB hard drive, iTunes, Internet, weather, calender, and a million other features and only cost $200? Know what I mean?

alright, i got the mount setup for the sirius. but i still have to wire it. not to mention i lost the factory AC adapter that came with the unit, so i have to find a plug thats compatible, splice the wire and connect it to something that wont blow a fuse... any thoughts? pics would be awsome..

Being that I have never worked on a tuber, I don't know for sure if you got it, but on the XB's there is a fused line called accessory, it runs the european parking light. You can splice into that fine, your radio isn't going to blow a fuse. Hell I got GPS, XM, race computers, heated grips, volt meter, and a video camera running off mine so knock yourself out : )

Ascerbis makes several streetfighter headlamps, including one like that. The knock-off variants can be found on eBay for about $60.

I hear ya (no pun intended). I'm still using the standard iPhone headphones listening to my iTunes. They stick in good, but as soon as I put the helmet on they get pulled out; I'm waiting for an opportunity to find some good in-ear headphones. I'm going to cut the speakers off them and splice them into my iphone headphones so I still have the mic and button. The mic has a button on it to control my iTunes and my calls so I want to keep that feature.

nice. yea, i actually dig the factory ipod headphones, when I'm riding without a helmet they stay in my ear regardless of speed. yes they do get pulled out a bit with the helmet on. i've tried wicked expensive ones, various styles, they all pop out once you hit 25mph + nuthin beats the 4 dollar ipod ones from the local gas station.
