I'm assuming these would fit any tuber? Just looks like the rear rim is wider than stock. I'm corresponding with the seller now to find out how much shipping would be on both wheels, so hopefully none of you beat me to the punch! rear front |

It just looks that way because the wheel design is flatter than most. The biggest issue will be tire selection with a 16.5" rear wheel. The rear may be a 5.5" width like the PMs or 6" wide like the rare RC Components wheels. |

That's our race team...I can stop in and check with them if you want, just send me a PM I'd have bought a set from them a while ago - they're sexy, and nice and light - but the 16.5" rear diameter killed the deal. Race tires, I could find...street tires, not so much. |

Just remember that the available tires for the 16.5 rim are going to be race tires, had these same rims. Kept the front sold the rear because I could not find streetable tires. |

Did you check in europe, I'm thinking Italy or France(they've usually got weird stuff), but do race tires really make that much of a difference? unless of course you ride in rain or just wet pavement. |

just legality, its not legal to run race tires on the street, they are not dot approved, but i have heard of people running rain race tires (they kinda have the appearance of a street tire) on the street so they wouldnt get pulled over for runnin slicks. My question on those rims is, why is one a 16.5 and the other a 17? if they were race both would be 16.5 would they not? (Message edited by billetmetallic on December 04, 2008) |

Can you imagine trying to change pads or tires on a 16.5" front wheel with a 13" rotor? |

Nah, the front is a 17. at least, I'm pretty sure it is... (Message edited by ratbuell on December 05, 2008) |

It is, that was my point. A 16.5" on the front would be a huge PITA to work on. |

i dont see how it would be any more difficult, do explain. I thought i read somewhere that 16.5" wheels and tires (front and rear) were standardized to race application a while back and that no one will make a street tire for that size for that reason. |

On an XB or a bike like a Ducati with 12.6" rotors, it wouldn't be an issue, but on a tuber with a PM caliper, after you pull the pads out, the caliper still "barely clears the wheel. Now imagine trying that with "1/4 less room... You would have to loosen the rotor every time to change pads or tires and for a person like me that does that stuff himself it's a huge PITA. |

But if you set a bike up for racing it gets pretty much torn down to nuts n bolts and rebuilt between events right? And if your gonna run this set-up on the street for looks then run "wet's" on it and don't let the cops inspect your bike IF they catch you. Like I said before I'd run them on my show bike...problem solved! |

I'm not buying them.. sounds like too much of a PITA to find tires. If anyone was waiting to give me dibs - thanks a lot and have at them! Thanks to everyone for the advice. You saved me $400 worth of great looking wheels that would be nearly useless to me. |
