Someone posted them before but I can't remember where. I have a set of '03 XL cases that I am going to put in an S2 frame, but I need to know what I need to do to make it fit. '03 was the last year sportsters used the solid-mount cases even though Buell stopped in '02, so U know it's just minor stuff. |

I thought one of the rear holes had to be drilled out bigger. |

Guell, it is something like that, but I can't remember if it was just one hole or two or three, and I can't remember the size. |

Thanks Matt, I believe that's the thread I'm thinking about. I'll see if I can find it in the archives. Do you remember if it was in Old School or classifieds? |

Shows what I know. I thought it was bolt-in deal with the correct swingarm block... |

I'm still waiting for it to come in. The PO and I have both gone through tough times trying to get it here, but it should be soon. I may have two up for sale as I have a CF V&H muffler for S2 in my closet and a stock header coming in as well. (Message edited by phelan on November 30, 2008) |

As far as I can remember it is all 4 holes. The Sportster motor holes are smaller I know I had to put the mounting plate for a Sportster in a drill press and bore them out to use the Buell motor. The Sportster had counter bored alignment bosses. I'll ask my brother for the facts. |

My engine ('01 XL) is out of the frame right now. If you'd like, I can take pics and post measurements when I get home from work. Just let me know. Going from memory, I believe that the XL holes are 3/8", and the Tubers are 1/2". Don't quote me on that though. I will tell you that all 4 rear bolts are the same size, and it appears that there is some sort of spacer/reducer in the holes. I didn't look at it that closely though. i think you also have to replace the front head, as the sportster head doesn't have the engine mounts to bolt to the front isolator. |

Art, that won't be a problem as there is no top end on the cases. Rich, I believe you're right now that I think of it. BTW, why is your engine out of the frame? |

Here ya go. All the bolts are 3/8". The bottom two holes appear to have a reducer in them, to make the ID 3/8". I'm not sure if the original hole is 1/2" or not, as all I had to measure with was a ruler. |
