I think the 'Pegasus' should be a pretty good clue as well to the Greek mythology theory.

So, when's the Buell Medusa coming out?...Lol!
Perhaps the Perseus or the Gorgoneion?

Where do the Buell model names come from?

I think Erik Buell comes up with them.

BSA used Thunderbolt and Lightning for their 650's back in the 60's -- those were great machines as well --

And believe very little of what you hear . . .some stuff, the "RW stands for Road Warrior" is a perfect example, is marketing department fantasy.

RW stood for Race Winner ?

I don't get it. Whats a Road ho? I mean I know what a lot lizard is, and I understand the terms origin.

Is Road ho a mobile service or just a nomadic professional?

I dunno.

And why is the word considered profane?
It's biblical!

Good question.

First time I heard the term was from a newlywed dude I used to work with. His young wife called to say that after she got off work, she was planning on going to the bar at the Holiday Inn at the small town they lived in which was right off the interstate. For some reason this dude got irate about it, and said (in clear earshot of everybody in our office), "Well, you can go over there, but you're gonna look like a bunch of road ho's!" The rest of us fell out of our chairs laughing. WTF is a road ho?!!

OK thats understandable, now why do the governing powers of BWB restrict the word from being used on this site. It's not even one of George Carlins seven!
Not that I would call ANY of you a name like that,or that it's a word that is used frequently in it's deviations, ie if someone were to call me a "cheap ho" I would understand there intent.
But I own a classic Buell, that in itself reflects the fact that at least at one time I had more money than brains, which makes me stupid not cheap, and my wife will attest, I can be sleazy but not a ho.

"In a related myth, the Hippocrene spring was created when the winged horse Pegasus aimed his hoof at a rock, striking it with such force that the spring burst from the spot. On Helicon too was the spring where Narcissus was inspired by his own beauty."

So the Helicon powerplant is the first liquid cooled motor sold in a Buell (Pegasus) motorcycle.. very interesting.

"The Trojan Horse, that famous stratagem, was devised by Odysseus." - (Ulysses is the Latin translation of the Greek name Odysseus)

The Ulysses is the first Buell bike that I would consider any type of competition for HD. Maybe the bike is Buell's "trojan horse" aimed at competing with the parent company.

They're all creative model names IMO whether there's a story behind them or not.

Ate would be great, the goddess of mischevious acts. Wait, is Ate the driving force of all tube framers?? LOL

Something hugely fertile with a significant tendency toward violence at any given moment remains the penultimate naming of a mechanical beast- lets' face it.

You are somewhat correct. It was a project codename for a particular bike, which could've spawned into a complete platform - of course.

Now you just need to figure out which one...
