I want to change the front drive pulley from a 27 tooth to a smaller 26 tooth for more low end torque. But I don't want to max out the belts adjustment to compensate. Anybody know if there is a shorter belt that will work? BTW it's a '99 x1. TIA | ||

I think a 27 to 26 change will be fine with the existing belt. Changing the rear pulley from 61 to 55 will NOT work without a belt change, however. Ask how I know, lol. | ||

Belt has plenty to do that, when I had 6 speed in the S-2 I went from a 29 to a 26 front. And you can run the 55 but had to get the "International" adjusters shown in parts boos, they had a bit more space. We just made some blocks when we were getting my bike ready for Bonneville at Aarons the first year. I ran a 27/55 combo. | ||

Thanks for the reply guys. I read somewhere that a 26t sprocket will require the adjuster to be at it's max. Just want to make sure I have some "wiggle" room. | ||

Michael I know that there is a shorter belt, I'm running 26/55 combo with the axle a good .50" forward from stock. Just can't remember the belt length off the top of my head. Joe | ||

Michael The part number on the Gates belt is BDL-PC-125-118Z. The gates part number used at Steel Thunder Custom Cycles was MU77535. It is 125 tooth belt. Joe |
