I want to put this question out there
What would you guys do!
1. buy 2 new injectors $63.55 each + ship and taxes
2. Or have the existing injectors rebuilt i.e. ultrasonic vibration bath, Back flushing, And new 10 micron screen final filters for $70.00 + taxes

Fuel injectors are supposed to be able to do at least 1 billion pulses in its life. Well beyond the life of the motorcycle, Unless there is a internal problem like a bad spring or winding problem inside the injector coiling.

So what would you guys do?

MY recommendation?

Send them to a good HiPo shop(TPIS comes to mind), and have them balanced, and rebuilt. They can also increase the flow, etc IIRC(they have all that tooling). I just wish a could remember which damn set of sticks crossed over to these...

Increase flow?
Wont that mess with the mapping or will ecm compensate for the increase in fuel!
Do you know any one who has done this or has re-built injectors?

Well, with ECM spy you could dail back the pulse width, until you have enough supporting mods to need it...

I had TPIS flowed my sticks for my Z28, but that was a long time ago...

I have talked with a few buell techs and some other injector techs here in utah, And im getting mixed signals
The dealer is saying they have never had to replaced them. So it sounds like they dont want to help. The injector techs are trying to get me to rebuild them for about $74.76 with taxes
I really think i want new ones, But i may rebuild the old ones and sell them.

When an injector was sticking, or clogged, on my '99 I tried to clean it and got a good spray though it. Put it back in the bike and got everything back together.
Five minutes after the restart it stopped again.
I replaced both of them since I didn't want to go through all that again. I figured the peace of mind by replacing both was worth it whether riding to work or 300mi. from home on a ride. I do occasionaly use an injector cleaner in my fuel.
I don't like to just change things for the heck of it but I also don't mind changing things that may be wearing out either. If my battery hiccups, it's out of there.

Not sure yet but front is not spraying just dribbling raw fuel, I would have got them out already but the fuel rail screw stripped out and i cant get them out until tomorrow, When i can get the intake out to get the screw out. I think i will have to die grind a notch in the head and use a large flat head screw driver to get it out. If not ill have to drill it out and just chase the rest out. Bike ran great just before this new problem.

I had to replace the injectors on my 99 S3 (I blamed a poor fuel filter). Ran great afterwards tho it was a bitch to get the bracket off (rounded the hex head)

I've never replaced a Buell injector since '99.

If it were my bike, I'd buy used.

I activated mine with a 12v-1/2a power supply (battery charger). I could hear a solid click so I figured that it was more likely a clog. By spraying carb cleaner both directions thru it I could get a good stream of spray.
But once I put it back in service the darn thing stuck again.

I found on those pesky allen head bolts that you can tap a torx driver into them and then they unscrew pretty easy after that.

Damn it i knew someone was going to say that. TO BAD I TRIED THAT TORQUE BIT. Its Ungodly stuck i will take it to work and see what i can do with some real tools.
supposedly there is a spring and a coiling of some sort and a 10 micron final filter inside the injector itself. I will get the bad one out and take it apart to see what failed.

I'm pulling the motor soon and I've decided to put in new. I've not had any problems out of mine but I figure why go to all that trouble, have it out and not replace something that cheap, relatively speaking that is. That way if something ever goes wrong with the new ones I'll have the old ones as backup.

Ok got 2 brand new injectors here. And im off to the shop to get the screw out of the intake, I didnt want to be cheap either and use rebuilt stuff, AND I DONT WANT TO TAKE OUT INTAKE AGAIN!!! Pain in the but job.

Ill bet this injector problem was insulation break down in the coil windings.

You cant clean that.

Ok results the injectors are just a press fit and come apart very easily the micron screen in the front injector was 2/3 plugged and stained with dark brownish colored stuffs so changing the injector was not the problem It was compression, But im glad i changed them out as its down for the winter and i got to rebuild top of the motor anyways!
