It has been a while, but I am looking at geting back on.  I am thinking a S3T in the same color combo as my old S2 (red body, white frame/rims). I have seen a pick of a S1 I think with a single side swing arm. I have no ideas where i saw it and would like to know how to get one. What are the benifits and the down falls? doing A LOT of research before I start as I don't like giving up a vehicle before it gives up. | ||

Do you see what I see on it? It's adapted to use a Ducati wheel mounted reverse. Just an interesting fact there for ya. Notice the wheel doesn't flow the same direction as the front? On a side note, Brembo made the ducati wheels that look like the Buell and Marchesini wheels if I'm not mistaken. | ||

On a side note (no pun intended), I thin a person with good weding skills and creativity could build one for a much more reasonable price, assuming they could pick up the necessary Ducati pieces off eBay. | ||

I've lusted after those for a few years now. The drop in the dollar hasn't brought them any closer. From someone that doesn't have a much creativity or welding skills that's important! | ||

It is just for looks. For awhile, I think it was a weight benefit with some loss in rigidity. I think newer designs found a way to be lighter and maintain strength, so you don't see them anymore. | ||

I imagine it was stronger than the original tubular steel swingarm, I wonder what it weighs? It's dead sexy IMO. All that back wheel out there exposed and all... ....yummy.... ...ooooooohhhh. I'd love to put one of those on my bike, maybe will someday but a Penske shock is higher on the list of priorities. My $.02 on the matter. -Mike | ||

not to get side-tracked (okay a little pun intended), but I would love to get a Pensky and compare it with my works shock. Then again my money would probably be better spent on some race-tech springs in my frontend. | ||

I agree Ralph, way too much green. However I think I can design and build one for less than $1000 including wheel and tire, but we'll see. I have to make some headway before I can start to experiment. Until then my plans are top secret.. | ||

This is one I had made by a UK Company Using the running gear from a Honda NCR250. I still needs a lot of prep as the welding was pretty crap.  | ||

Darren, I like it. Finish that puppy! I'm definitely going to be sure that I find an expert aluminum welder when I build mine. I originally was thinking steel but I think it would be too involving and hard to fit running gear to it. Aluminum will be much easier and cheaper. |
