Have the factory fan kit on my '01 X-1, and was the first mod I made. Easy to install. I did have to move the horn, but the kit instructions explains it all. The left side air scoop covers the whole thing up. Don't know about any temp diff, though, as I hadn't had the bike that long when I installed the kit. Have had it come on now and again when riding in stop-and-go traffic in central Fla in Aug. Mostly it comes on after shutting down after a ride.

Hhhmmm I see the kit online $249.95 but i was wondering if this fan can be wired so it doesnt ever turn off, but will still speed up by itself if its wired this way! And does it blow directly on the rear head or in the middle of motor. Also does this make the heat on the right side increase ever hear of the buell right foot shuffle! I am going to buy a d and d full system from americansportbike.com and have them ceramic it in satin black then ship to me but i only got half of the money now!

Preybird1:

Wired my FAN for three options:

Operate by heat sensor ...

Can turn on any time myself ...

Can just turn off ...

Not to hijack this thread but, if you have the fan installed on an X1 I would like to see pics if possible. Bought one and have yet to install. Not sure I even need it but it cant hurt either. Thanks all.

The fan kit was designed to blow cooling air to the FI for countries where fuel quality might vary. I'm sure there is some cylinder cooling benefit, but it's not the main reason for it's existence.

I remember reading that here years ago when FI was first being released on Buells.

Thank you Ebutch. Very nice Buell you have. Yes it looks easy but I bought a fan only. No instructions, no wiring, no thermostat. Ebay deal gone way wrong!!

I don,t use therm.Fan has two wires one + one -.Get wiring test light tape + wire or run from bat with fuse link.then cut wire put in on off switch mount in convenient place.Find ground wire tap to fan.Or pay somebody ,friend.
