Ross, I hope that means you will be able to keep the S2! You have a place to stay if you get up this way..

Dan's shop is about 100 miles North of me...

Man, I am ready to ride the mountains again. It is going to be a long winter. Here are some ideas for June.

The lower part of the 180 mile loop looks really fun...

Dan, do you know if Aaron is going to make the trip?

Phelan, it is. That is Hwy 50 which runs along the Arkansas river. I almost lost my life in that river while white water rafting in the early 90s. It runs through Big Horn Sheep Canyon and they call it that for a reason. I came real close to tagging one of those big beast on that road. It is also the same road I got my first ticket in Colorado while on my 97 S1 hauling a$$. The cop knocked it down to 19 over because 20 over and he could have taken me to lockup and taken my bike. He was more interested in the bike LOL.

Maybe I won't ride that road again LOL. The Royal Gorge bridge is near Canyon City and is a good tourist stop.

Hey Frank,
Is Buena Vista a resort town? Those room prices are double what I'm accustomed to paying. I called the Motel 8 and they are about the same price!
I might have to stay down in Salida and meet you guys up there or something, I hadn't realized it was going to be so expensive to stay there...

Bart, I posted the prices a while ago http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/411495.html?1224213822.

Are those the same prices they quoted you?

Buena Vista is not a resort town but there are a lot of things going on in the summer. The big one is white water rafting. Lynn and I stayed at a motel in Johnson Village (just south of there) as an emergency one night. I think it was 40 dollars a night and I will not stay there again. Let me know what you find in Salida... Frank

One of my favorite old places to stay was Georgetown. The name escapes me now but it was on the North (I think) side of the road, next to a great restaurant and I **think** it was called the Snowshoe Motel.

Make that FRISCO

I have a good friend that lives in Salida, so depending on what happens I may stay there as well and ride up to BV each day of the meet.

Not sure if Aaron will show up or not. Depends on if he is prepping an LSR bike usully. If he doesn't we all might just have to ride to his house and see him!!!

I'm sure Aaron's schedule will be driven by racing but I'm not coming to Colorado without seeing him and Susan . . If he's in "race mode" I'd be up for a ride to his house . . and, seeing that I have to retrieve my bike, I'll need to be there anyway.

Hehehehehehe. . . in addition, I've been known to show with little or no warning and crash at their place!

: )

I have spoke to Frank and if folks would be interested we can do a dyno shootout on Saturday. It is about a 150 mile drive so we would have to leave about 9am. Grab some lunch and then we would have the whole afternoon to do this. Plus we could go visit Aaron at tghe same time as he is only about 10 miles away.

How many folks would be interested?

Jay, Dan has a great shop. The first time I met Dan was Jan of last year. I rode my XB12R up and met Zac (1125R) and Maximum (Uly) at HCHD. We chatted with Jammer (Uly) and then headed to Dan's shop. He came out and made a comment about the lack of tube framed Buells. I instantly liked him.

I could not stay long but had fun and learned a little while at his shop.

I look forward to the S2 Gathering in June. It will be great to see some of the S2s that I saw at homecoming and hopefully some new ones. I hope the dates I picked out are good and do not conflict with homecoming. I am more than a little nervous about this rally but with Rex and Dan in the mix I am sure it will come off as a great event.

I'd really like to join y'all if I can get the time off.
If y'all don't mind my 1125R in the bunch...
I work "Parts" at High Country and everybody works Saturdays during Summer.

Maybe with a slew of S2s around me I can get it thru my thick head that Frank rides a gorgeous S2, not an S3...

I'm lurking a lot in "Old School" now, trying to absorb some knowledge.

Hey, a 1125r rider in the Old School section! Lets get em!!!

Just kidding Zac. Of course all Buells/Sportsters will be welcome. If the group takes a ride up to Dans place there is always the possibility we could stop in a see you as well since your just down the street.

I sent Dave an email so if you see him let him know that I have a few patches for him. Frank
