I finally have a dash and my tach mocked up on the bike. I have both wiring harnesses (1 from the tach, and 1 from the speedo) running together.

Ive read that the wires from the tach are as follows

orange wire goes to slot 3
pink goes to 7
and black goes to 9

I have a 1997 so wire colors on the main harness might be a bit different.

Do the tach wires just get crimped in with the existing wired in the connector? I was planning on removing the pins, and if its correct, crimping the 2 wires to a pin and putting it back into the connector.

Thanks

Matt

If I recall correctly from way back when I put one on my 99 M2, the kit actually came with pinned wires. The connectors had blanks in the output side of the connector - remove the blank, insert pinned wire from the kit, reconnect the connector. If you got the kit used, you may have to either butt-splice the wires to the feed side of the connector (your three are power, ground, and tach signal BTW), or "stretch" them with some extensions and put pins on them. You can get the pins either at radio shack, or from your local dealer - I know we keep bins of them "just in case".

Your 'pull and crimp together' method should work, though. Long as you have room to get both wires (and their insulation) stuffed back in the connector when done....

Thanks a ton ratbuell, so the power and ground wires tie into the speedo wires. Much appreciated.

Ive cobbled this thing together over the last few months. So the tachs wires were just blanks. Im off to radioshack tomorrow
