There are different race cans, yes?

I'm pretty sure there was a supertrapp-made internal disc race muffler that was stainless, marketed by Buell with "Buell" embossed in the side. It had a removable outlet cap, so you could access the discs to add/remove them. Made to fit stock header, muffler had an elbow on the inlet.

There was also a riveted-together, non-disc-containing race muffler that's aluminum - at least that's what's on my S2. It looks just like what's in the pics above (what'd you polish that with, Butch? Very nice!), and was also Buell-marketed (don't know who made 'em for Buell, though). And no, it's not "for" an S2...I think its original app was M2 / X1 with race header (I believe this is the one that was packaged in the "race kit" containing the header, muffler, air filter and ECM/ignition box). I had to get a spacer to run from the 2" header outlet to the 2.5" muffler inlet.

And yes, it is aluminum. Totally different material than the SS Supertrapp (Supertrapp-branded) external-disc can I took off. I put 'em side by side, and can see and feel the difference.

Yep, my S2 has the same thing on it as you picture - just packing. Also the V&H CF on my S1W - packing around a perforated core. Although...not much packing left in that one, lol.

I seem to recall a "repack kit" back in the day for these race cans, IIRC it was a stack of fiberglass mat for packing, and a handful of rivets (BYO rivet gun).

I gotta get back to work and pull out my old catalogs....
