I have just come back from touring Northern France on my newly acquired X1, the bike behaved faultlessly except for one small problem that technical forum might be able to help me with, about 1 time in 20 when pulling away in first gear the bike seems to jump out of gear and then go back in by its self or that what it feels like, and the noise/clunk seems like its coming from the primary chaincase, have any forum members experienced the same symptoms, or any experts able to diagnose the problem, all in all this bike is awesome ! I am so glad I bought it.

Thanks in advance,
Clive.

What Lafeyette said. The gear pair I replaced is sitting here on my desk. Its a problem with worn dogs.

I did not have to replace any forks, just the gear pair. I think mine was 2nd.

Be glad it's a tuber, that has a trap door transmission. You don't have to split the cases.

Do a search here for "worn dogs" and you will find a boatload of information (and pictures).

Before I took the transmission out, I'd do a shift pawl re-adjustment to see if that helped first.

Heh... I'm no tuber transmission expert, but I've been in my transmission a few times. It's a real breeze compared to any motorcycle I've ever had. If you have to go in for some 'wet work', don't sweat it... you can be in and out and ready for a test ride in a few hours.
