a little help please, was just wondering about using ecm spy just got it installed tested all diagnostic, and got 2 codes from historic byte 1 trouble code 14,ets short to supply voltage
byte 4 trouble code 14 o2 sensor inactive or open. i just put a new o2 sensor in and did tps reset now problems starting doesn t sound right when running but trouble code dongle flashes no codes and ecm spy shows no current codes although i only warmed the bike up after and just rode around parking lot does bike need to adjust with a longer ride and i did reset the afv also a little help would be nice as this is the first vehicle i have hooked to a pc ever kinda weird for me.. ok rode it 38 miles ran ok till got warmer and then it would not go past 3.5 rpms and would sputter like you wouldnt believe, I did find that the idle set screw was all the way in the low end, But i dont think this would cause this stumble the bike is having.
thanks all for input

thanks guys

ETS = engine temp sensor:
location rear head "in the chimney"

The ETS has a major influence on mixture and can cause the problem you are describing

after an O2 sensor change I like to run the bike to allow it to relearn the correct AFV

ok i talked to al at a.s.b and apparently i didnt use ecm spy correctly i did tps reset without connecting to the ecm via the little keys tab on upper left side of overview screen. the fault i believe was when the o2 sensor was loose, then i got the head temp sensor code off a trouble code dongle, and checked with ecm spy and historical codes gave me the 2 i posted earlier, thanks for the info and if you have any tips on the correct procedure on connecting to bike properly possibly a step by step. I know thats lot to ask but i got a couple friends with these bikes and i would like to help them out, and you said you are certified to in stall glass filters are you buell certified!!! if so sweet, i see alot of your posts and i can see you know your stuff as again thanks for all you do!

Here's what I do.. re: connecting ECMSpy

1) Boot up the PC (Dell notebook running WinXP)
2) Plug the cable into the USB port on the PC.
3) Start EMCSpy program
4) Connect the cable to the diagnostic port on the bike.
5) Switch ignition switch on.
6) Switch RUN switch to on (don't start bike)

ECMSpy should now be reading the ECM on the bike. You can read codes, clear codes, TPS reset, etc.

To set TPS, run the idle screw all the way out so the throttle is completely closed. Snap the throttle a couple of times to make sure it's closed, then click the TPS reset button.
Now, turn the idle screw back in until the TPS reads about 5%. After you start the bike and let it warm up, adjust the idle speed to 1050 to 1100 RPM. (you can do this warm up and idle speed set with ECMSpy still connected.)

The other thing that I recommend if you've changed something or run out of gas is to ride the bike at a steady 3000 RPM for about 2-3 minutes. This lets the ECM re-learn and reset the Air Fuel Value.

Keep in mind that this is free advice and may be only worth exactly what you paid for it!

Yeah i just found out i didnt turn the tps back to 5% and i reset afv to 100 so i think the throttle problem i had this morning was the same, but the first time used ecm i didnt know that you had to clicke the keys icon on the overview screen and i tps reset without talking to ecm lol. oh well live and learn once i reset the tps bike ran great. rode it to work today and the same problem agaian, so i re read the instructions you sent yobarry. And i failed to turn screw back to 5% before i started it up and set idle so i think i got problem figured out but the bike is with me and ecm is not so im jonesin to try it out. otherwise itll at harley tomorrow.
