My 98 s1 has been running rough for over a year now.I have tried changing plugs, wires, coil, intake gasket seals and taking the carb apart.I have 65300 miles on it.I burn only 93 octane gas.It runs good when I give it the gas but when the motor isn't working(pulling) it runs rough even at idle.Could it be the ethanol gas we are using now.

What do the plugs look like? Have you done a compression check or leak down check? What is the condition of the battery and connections? This is where I would start.

Hillbilly, did you replace the rubber in the carb when you took it apart? I find that I need to do a rebuild about every 5 to 8 years on mine. Might want to check the intake seal as well.

I would also clean the jets real good while you have the carb apart if you have not done that.

Let us know how it goes... Frank
