Hi guys,

I posted this elsewhere here, too...

I'm sure this is an idiot question, but I'll ask anyhow: Will a S2 seat fit on a '97 M2? With what mods?

I'm looking to upgrade my seat on the cheap. The shape of my stock Cyclone is fine, but it's VERY soft and my butt goes numb on it after about 120 miles. I'm thinking of buying a used S2 seat to have Sargent rework...

Any thoughts?

Randy

I put on a manta tank and the fat 99+ cyclone tail. I couldnt stand the 97 seat. I just got a buell select seat for it, and its super comfy. I got all the parts for less than a new corbin costs. Ive done plenty of 8+hour days on the bike without problems.

Ah, call me vain, but I like the looks of the narrow-waisted, first-Gen Cyclones better.

I'm apt to go with Sargent before switching over to the manta tank and seat... I think I've heard bad things about the Corbin seats for the early M2s -- something about castration and mashing of the yarballs -- but I've had a few Sargent-covered seats in the past and they've been a vast improvement over stock.

I was outbid on a M2 seat on Ebay today by a buck. I don't want to put the bike up while I'm waiting for a seat replacement, so I need to find a cheap seat first. There's a S2 for cheap, too, but I don't want to have to do too many mods to a donor seat, if you know what I mean.

Hm...

The S2 seat will never fit a M2..... at least not in a way it would look right :-)

I wasn't sure if the pan might be the same. That way I could just have Sargent (or Saddlemen?) reshape it. The more I hear, the more I want to just wait for another M2 seat to pop up. : )

Randy..

Contact parts@dtpmuscle.com, that is Steve you would want to deal with...

Tell them a fellow named Wilson sent you (I bought the rims from their Cyclone they are parting out on eBay and met with Steve to pick them up instead of shipping) and they should offer to sell just the tail section for $30 plus shipping, tell them you'll throw in $20 to include the seat as well and for $50, you have yourself a spare tail section and seat (plus shipping). It's probably not A+ condition, but will work if you want to repaint it and are going to get the seat redone.

Here are the pics that were emailed to me:

Randy, did you get ahold of him?

I believe he's waiting on word from you or me if you're going to buy it or not.

Hi guys,

He sent the price yesterday. I have to head up to Salem with the wife this morning to go to traffic court with her.

I'll ping Steve right now, but there's a good chance that her ticket -- driving without insurance -- and the two-hour ride up to Salen will kill my paycheck. (We also have rent this week.) If Steve can sit on the seat (haha) until next pay period, it shouldn't be a problem.

Randy, do you still have that V&H slipon? You should eBay it if you do to recoup some of yer losses and that would more than pay for the seat.

Hey Ross,

Funny story: I come back from a six-hour drive to scenic Salem, half my day dead. So I figure that I'll mount the D&D can to the OEM header you sent me. I can't get the thing on. Much sweat, blood and tears follow. Come to find out, I don't have the right bracket. Hehehe.

So, long story short: I don't want to sell the V&H until I'm sure that I can make the system you put together for me work, so I can send you back the Force. There is still a chance that I might be better off cutting the header you gave me and mounting the V&H, which has a bracket.

If you have that stock bracket, would you mind sending it to me? I'll make good with all this shipping at some point.

I guess I'll put the Force system back on until I can figure this out. I won't be able to get the can until the exhaust is right. There's a divine order to these things. : )
