It's leaking. I believe it to be along the bottom through the gasket. Is this another right of Buell passage I have to go through? Or am I just lucky?

Is it leaking from the primary case on the left side? If you replace the primary gasket with the current paper/steel gasket, the problem should never return. I never had a leak from mine, but I've heard of it being a problem with the older style paper gaskets... but that was 8 years ago.

Lucky

I was lucky too, my shifter fell out because the leak was throught the bolting boss for it and it got loose ( I was about home at a light and and felt it going.

What DJ said get the correct gasket to fix that problem, If you can borrow or purchase a clutch tool and get the 3 plates to fill the clutch and get the grenade plate out

Or not ..

Don't forget to get the new and much improved starter gasket too!

Replace this now or be prepared to take it apart again sometime soon....



PS it will keep springing leaks until ALL of the paper gaskets have been replaced.

There is no sense letting it get to you - either decide to fix it as it needs it, replace all paper gaskets in one fell swoop or sell it.

I am pretty sure I am out of paper gaskets and have not leaked a drop in about one year (Knock on wood)!

The primary gaskets are so good now that if properly torqued like you would torque the head on a car, they can even be re-used as "i" do ...

Remember inch pounds can be divided by 12 ...

Center scale is better if you can ...

REMEMBER THIS: The "TORQUE WRENCH" is one of the most dangerous tools in your tool box along with the hammer, chisel, and pry bar ...

I have re-used the primary gasket after changing out to the new style (primary oil and shoe replacement) and knock wood no leaks.

I was able to trace it to the shifter shaft at the case mating surface. Is this just a plain surface seal or is there a O-ring I'm missing?

There is a small circular seal there (not an O-ring), but I'm not sure if replacing it is going to solve the problem.

Fixed it. Replaced the primary cover gasket (with the good style), and other o-rings. The old gasket had crushed and turned brittle. Hopefully that's it for a while.

Do you have the part number for the starter gasket? Mines leaking like the old style rocker box gaskets : )
