Hello again all, just wondering if anyone has bought and used the X1 Aluminium Short Tail Unit By RRC on a 2002 model X1. I've always liked the look and was considering one myself. I't also a little pricey and wondered if any one has used this item and noticed any flaws with it. Thanks, Bow

I've got one on my 99 -- VERY happy with the fit and finish, no issues whatsoever, other than there is *far* less space inside for all of your electrical bits and it's a tad harder to deal with your oil tank cap. I put a screw on banke unit on mine which has made all the difference in the world. very very very happy with the tail.

The RRC guys are very helpful as well, but note that unless you speak german, there will be a language barrier to overcome. Also, the instructions on installing the tail are totally worthless due to poor translation, but you can figure it out.

That setup looks great. How much does that cost and I guess it comes with the seat?

Short? Like non-existant! Man is that small.

it's about 1200 bucks all said and done, not counting the black powder coat, and yeah, comes with the seat. Just enough room for both buttcheeks, but nothing else.

At one time, and it's been discussed on this site at length, Trojan made a short carbon fiber replacement for the aluminum sub-frame. Never knew a price and I would bet they are very hard to come by now. I've never seen one on e-bay or in our classifieds.

On another thread we were discussing the possibility of grafting the tail from an S12 on to an X1 in order to find the lines that you have with this bobbed seat and tail conversion. However, there is still not enough body for my taste. I like the narrowness of this but it is short and empty, I'd like to see something in the nature of skirting and rear fender for my tate.

Having said that, your bike is sharp and very racey looking. how's the seat feel?

Looks great!
I'm going to try something like this rear end.
$103 from airtech streamlining and I'll fashion my own subframe.

The seat's good for about three hours, which is about the same as I was able to manage with the stock set up. After three hours I just need to get off the thing for a while.

Thanks joe, I also like the look it gives the bike. I think I just found my 2nd(or 3rd) winter project. If I ever get the bike finished I'll post some pics
