I have an intermittent issue of the engine cutting out for no reason. I think it might be the bank angle sensor shorting. Where is this sensor located and can I turn it off?

Thanks j-

Jason
I recommend you look at the side stand switch also.

Can the side stand switch be disconnected?

Has anyone else had this issue? I'm just riding along and it cuts, then keeps going fine. Does it about once every 50 miles or so. The other day however, it starting cutting out when I was accelerating hard from a stop sign. Then it ran fine no issues. Its maddening. I've replaced everything but the stand switch and bank angle sensor.

Thanks,
J-

I had this issue for a long time and the ETS was the culprit. I Changed the head temp sensor and it started running good, no surge.

Regards.

I had a bad spark wire(rear cyl) that made the bike run crappie/loosing power/cutting out/rough running.I changed every sensor on that bike, stupid wire.

Hey Danny, with the bad spark wire, had you idling problems? (low idle on hot and hanging at 2000 before dropping to 1050), because the mine even after I changed intake gaskets, injectors o-ring, O2 sensor, IAT sensor, and ET sensor both idling problems are still there.

Many Thanks in advance.

My bikes never idled, unless its good and warm ha ha.. It only did it after a few minits on the road. Once it hit operating temp? Then it would misteriously go away till the next ride. Mines never hung like that, try spraying WD40 on the throtle body return springs. Sometimes they get gunked up.

Weekend work and testing:

I switched back to the stock ECU and ran it up to about 130mph on a test run. Much less torque, but better top end.

I tried to connect my palm to the ECM using the EMCSpy, but all I get is a connect error. Some functions seem to work such as the test mode, but I can not map the ECM.

I found the bank sensor, unplugged it and checked the voltage using VDSTS on a Ipaq. Unplugged it showed 4.65 Volts, plugged in it showed .65 volts. Jiggling, tapping, wiggling, thumping it still showed the .65 volts. Did the same with the side stand switch with the bike electrics on still nothing.

Switched back to the Race ECM, just pulls so much better with it. But has a flat spot in the mid range about 3800 RPM. Easier to do stand up wheelies. : )
