So I went to the S&S 50th anniversary this weekend. It was a great weekend with 750+ miles of riding I did with my Dad and a friend. However, there was a flash flood in town and I was in the wrong spot!  After pushing it out, I hit the starter and my waterlogged exhaust can became a 78 hp super soaker! The bike ran great all weekend so that would make this a fun story. Not long after we moved our bikes, a UPS truck drove down the road and made a wave so big it picked up 12 bikes and tossed them on their sides. Glad I moved my bike when I got the chance! | ||

Lose weight, me or the bike? ha ha Actually I am down about 20 lbs since Christmas. My wife started a "eat healthy" plan so I joined her by default. She has done better then me, but we are both reaping some pretty good benefits! One of the cool things, is I can fit into all the buell shirts I bought 5 years agon when I bought my bike! Going into my closet is like shopping in a store full of things I like and it's all free. One shirt in particular was my Team Elves 2003 Bonneville record shirt. I wore it Friday night at the S&S event and a guy that was at the Buell 20th anniversary homecoming recognized me since he had bought the same shirt at the same event. | ||

glad to see you missed out on the suonomi koz. i'd have been pissed. if you ever get a chance to stop at the buell dealer in manatowoc, stop in and say hello to my daughter. she works in the parts dept. i was pretty impressed at how well she did on the m2low before she got rear ended on it. | ||

Funny thing was, we had storms and rain predicted all weekend. I got 750+ miles in (we popped down to Iowa for the J&P cycle open house on Saturday) and only got rained on for maybe 2 minutes??? All weekend we had clouds and rain in the sky all around us but never over us. The roads out there were beautiful and if you ever have a chance to ride Highway 33 out of La Crosse there are about 20 miles of long sweeping curves (rated 35 to 50 mph) that were just fun to ride. the road was smooth, dirt free, and no traffic at 9:00 am on a Sunday. I kept the bike in 3rd and never got under 55 (most of the time was spent a wee bit over that though). Overall highlights of the trip WET MOMENT - see pic above COOL MOMENT - I got to meet the dude from Horsepower TV and tell him how much me and my 17 month old daughter like watching his show. FUNNY MOMENT - Standing on the main drag Saturday night talking with a few cops when a bachlorette came up to the cops across the street and asked to pose with them for pictures. then one pulled out a 12 inch rubber recreation of the male anatomy and lightly tapped the one cop on the head with it while the pictures where being taken PAINFUL MOMENT - hit in the left nipple with a fat raindrop at 80 mph on the Iowa Freeway wearing just a T-shirt. CELEBRATIES SPOTTED - Numorous bike builders like Arlen and Cory Ness, The Tuttles of OCC, Chica from Chica customs, Jackyl, The guys from Hardcore Walz of Germany. Everyone was available and very pleasant to meet with. WEIRD MOMENT - a drunk college girl on the main drag started petting the seat of my bike because she thought the lights were cute... FRUSTRAITING MOMENT - Trying to fall asleep in the hotel room with two other guys that snored so loud it sounded like dueling chainsaws. WEIRD ROAD HAZARDS - Aside from the many dead animals we came across a kamakazi bird that hit one bike, a sleeping bag, and many piles of hourse apples left by the Omish carts and their engines. If you crash and write down "slipped on poo in the road" will insurance cover you? | ||

I also have about 100 LEDs in orange that light up the whole bike at night. It was a rather involved instalation, but it looks better then 99% of the other bikes I have seen. The cool thing is that according to the DOT regulations, "amber" lights are legal to have on a vehicle so I leave them on when riding. I have never been pulled over, but if I ever do I keep a copy of the regulation on the bike. Or I can point to just about any semi truck passing by and ask why the cop didn't pull him over. Ove the years I have been collection body parts from eBay (super cheap) and now have two full additional body sets in my garage. I plan on doing a custom paint job sometime in the near future. | ||

Thanks. I did all the polishing work myself about 3 years ago. I also built/modified a few parts myself. I took the pictures right after I got done cleaning it up. It never stays that clean for long as I ride it as much as I can. | ||

Koz...it looks like your bike did better in the water than my Rover   She's still not running yet. But it's just a matter of tracing down which electrical component fried. | ||

I have pics of my bike on the desk, but not in my wallet... yet! Thanks for the comments on how good it looks. Hard to believe I flipped it on the track at 85 mph 2 years ago!  However, for Father's day my wife took my 17 month old daughter into the photographer's studio complete with a leather jacket, hat and shades along with my Buell jacket. One of the pictures won first place and we got a free father/daughter photo shoot. LAKE - OH NO! I was in a friend's land rover back in 1993 when we went into a puddle that was too deep. We got the truck out and he decided to drive it home. Water/sand got into the motor and destroyed it before he made it 5 miles to the gas station. I hope your truck unds up in better shape. Can I ask what possesed you to drive in there? that looks like a really big water hole? | ||

tried to find the video of what looked like a land rover truck towing the boat across a flooded road. that was pretty unbelievable to see what this thing did. good luck on the fix lake. just be glad it wasn't in salt water. ask my brother about that. | ||

Koz, is that the original volcano grey? My bike went through a paint job with the previous owner, but it's starting to bubble. I was thinking about going to some kind of silver/metalic grey. And just for the record I love your bike. All that chrome is just bad ass! Now that I'm back home in WA, I'm starting to try and track down chrome access panels. |
