Hey all, i just purchased an x1 fairing to put on my M2 simply because i like the way it looks on the x1. I haven't put it on yet but i'm wondering if there's anything i need to know before diving head first into this project.

if you've got any pictures please put them up so i can see how it looks

You'll need to get the X1 dash to fit the X1 flyscreen. I'm thinking the rest is just R&R.

On a sidenote... I think the symmetrical M2 flyscreen is a lot better looking than the asymmetrical X1 flyscreen.

I put USD forks on mine, and used the X1
headlight mounts, trouble is I had to cut the M2 flyscreen back a bit to fit the headlight.
Even then I had to shave the mounts to get the headlight to go back far enough in, and its still not right.
So either the X1 headlight is different, or its the flyscreen.

I ran the X1 screen on my M2 with a X1 dash for several years before switching out the whole front end to X1 parts.

I don't think you even need to switch the dash, it just fits better that way.

Funny about those flyscreens... I've always loved the asymmetrical look of the X1 and S1 dash and screen.

Should just bolt right on. I've been wanting to put one on my bike for a while but since it's just cosmetic it's at the bottom of the list.

I think Al at American Sport Bike stocks a kit with all the hardware for the install if you get a used one. Should be straight forward if you have the stock shifter, if you've upgraded you might need to change the spacer on the pivot bolt.

Oh, on that flyscreen, if you change the dash you'll need to move the tank so you can get to the modular plug for the speedo, tach, ignition...

...A pic of my 2000 M2 with a CF X-1 fairing:
Fairly simple, just call the dealer and work through the parts list - if you need to put the X-1 dash on you'll need an extra cup (contact me if you want it) - it was a bit of a project when I did it because 2000 M2's didn't come with a tach, so I had to order a 2001 tach and work from there blah blah etc...-

..A pic of the dash side-(although the dash has been replaced with a Ebay C.N.C billet knockoff....and I've went back to the O.E.M handlebars and mirrors-)
- the X1 fairing does keep more wind off your chest...
