I'm an XB guy, but a friend of mine has a '01 X1 White Lightning. He's wondering if you can mount a 120/70 front and a 180/55 rear on the bike without any clearance issues? I looked at the bike and I think it can be done, but I thought I'd ask the experts first. Thanks, Schmitty | ||

If he has the PM wheels then yes but if he has the stock wheels then the rear rim is a little narrow for a 180 tire. | ||

a 180 will work with either wheel, many including myself have it and it works fine. | ||

My S2 has 120 front and 180 rear Pilot Road2's on cast wheels. No issues. | ||

Absolutely! the best thing about the 180/55 and the 120/70 is they are very available since most of the metric bikes use them, and you can get deals on them all over the place. | ||

Rat- How do you like those Road2's? I've been running the Road Attacks and am only getting 3-4k on a rear. I think I'm ready to try something different. I've been wanting to try the Road2's but they are quiet a bit more expensive than the Road Attacks. Are they worth the extra $$? Oh, by the way, I'm running 120/180 with no problems. | ||

So far (~500 miles) I LOVELOVELOVE the PR2. Tip-in is great, very predictable all the way over, I've gotten the bike over farther than I ever have now that I have these tires on. Also, getting caught in the rain the other day (grr, just washed the damned thing too) they do great in the wet. Very happy. Time will tell on the mileage, but all other indicators point to another set next time around. Even if I "only" get the 6800 miles I got out of the bike's D208s last time around, the improved feel and confidence will be enough for me to get another set. | ||

Schmitty you never mentioned which wheels he has ,PM or the cast three spokes. I have been runnin' 190's on the rear of my S-1 for several years now. Note though that's on a PM wheel. | ||

A cast wheel will hold a 190. Right now I have the Metzeler M3's on it. 120 and 190. I like the way they feel, although there are those who will argue until they're blue in the keyboard that you shouldn't run 'em but that's ok, they don't have to ride it, right? |
