I replaced my stock M2 tires a few months ago with the 1125r Pirelli's. I've put a couple thousand miles on them and it seems as if I have LESS traction than I did with the stockers. Keep in mind the stock tires had been on the bike until 2002 and sat virtually unused until late 2006 when I bought it.

I am not a very experienced rider but I am noticing that in first gear, sometimes when turning, sometimes when accelerating hard, the rear "slips". I'm not sure if the torque is overpowering the tire or what. I am certainly not flying in first, have never wheelied, etc...

I am also sliding in the wet though that isn't much of a surprise.

Is it that I am not spinning these tires fast enough to get them to proper temps? It's hot out (summer in VA) and I ride at a reasonable pace.

Why would these much stickier tires be keeping traction so much worse than the stock ones?

Check your tire pressure.

I will only run Pirelli Scorpion Syncs on my bikes. I love them and will not ride with anything else. I don't have much experience with the Corsa's, so I can't speak there. But, I have a few friends with 1125's and I have not heard anything bad about the tires at all.

Pressure is good (I check regularly). I think the issue is that I need to let these tires warm up a bit more than I was used to. I'm not an experienced enough motorcyclist to know when I'm losing the rear... it almost feels like I am slipping then dropping the clutch when in first. Anyway, I guess I will just play it safe, and try to replace these before winter.

I noticed when my rear shock started leaking and losing damping, it was a lot easier to break the rear tire loose in corners.

You think maybe the shock is starting to go?

I don't know. Part of me says "no" only because I notice this only in 1st gear so far. I have to say that as I get more miles under my belt, I am more aware of how crappy the stock suspension feels. I don't see any leaks but I could check again.

I was kind of toying with looking at a new bike, but I have renewed interest in fixing up this one. A suspension upgrade (front and rear) is tops on the list.

You say pressure is good. What pressure is that? Traction has everything to do with pressure. Try a few lbs lower. I like mine around 30-32 rear and 32-34 front. Also could be your shock is set without enough sag or too much dampening.
