Nice to be here. I'm the new owner of a 2002 M2 and very excited about it, but my speedo isn't working. I'm technically savvy but new to motorcycle maintenance. Can anybody tell me where to start? | ||

Is the speedometer totally dead (no lights or tripmeter) or is it just the speed indicator needle not working? | ||

my speed sensor went out on the first m2 a few times. one time it burnt a hole through it from the inside. no idea how that happened, but i saw it. | ||

You may be able to pull it out and clean it off to get it to work. I was able to do it once before mine crapped out totally. They were about $65 or so last time I bought one. | ||

Seems like a really common problem on M2s. My speedometer needle was bouncing a lot when I bought the bike, but it's pretty much dead now. I only just recently noticed that while the odomoter/trip meter comes on it doesn't move with the needle at 0. Sadly I've driven several hundred miles while this problem. I have no idea how many miles were never picked up by the odometer. The good news, I never intended to sell my M2 with low miles. | ||

I have the same problem, however the trip odometer is not work too. Would it be the speedo sensor? And where is this thing located? |
