Well its just not working. Lights all light up and everything. Tach works, but the speedo and odometer just will not work. I have gone over all the wires that come out of the gauge cluster multiple times but still nothing. Where are the main connectors for the speedo? i need to get this problem fixed soon before I get myself a nice ticket. THANKS

Motorcycle is still a vehicle.

Speed sensor does not control backlighting. I'd say look at the sending unit also (had to modify this post, I thought the lights were dead, too).

The connector is the three-wire connector with red, white, and black coming from the speed sensor. It lives under the battery tray on X1 if memory serves.

speedometer sensor on back of tranny under battery tray on brake side of bike. replaced mine and all it back to normal. i had to remove my battery to get it out because the wires were all bundled together underneath is......heres a hint dont forget to plug your starter wire back in before you go to hop on it again, lol.
