This weekend I'll be trying to tune in my carb with a fellow Bueller. Right now its running way rich you can see puffs of black smoke and is very touchy on the throttle. When Idling it sounds pretty loopy due to the cams possibly. I purchased the S2 with all the mods so I don't even really know what jet and needle is in it. It has:

HSR42 Mikuni Carb
Kuryakyn Hypercharger
Crane Cams
Hydraulic lifters
V&H Pipes with stock header
Dyna 2000 Ignition System
Edelbrock Performer rpm 1200 Cylinder Heads
Edelbrock Pistons 10:1 compression ratio
Edelbrock Intake Mani

If anyone has some good input please let me know so that I can get the S running good. Right now since the throttle is so touchy it sucks riding on the street. TIA!

Search the web until you find the HSR tuning guide, down load it should get you going.

Yeah I found a couple of different tuning guides but its kinda pig Latin to me. We'll see how of goes this weekend.

Does anyone know if the jets and needles are no. so I can figure out what I have in there or are you suppose to measure it some way? Im having my co-worker take it apart tomorrow and dip it in some carb cleaner. The kind you let sit for a few minutes and then take out and clean. If there's a way to find out the sizes by looking at them I'll see if he can get the numbers for me.

numbers are on the jets and needle. you might need a magnifying glass to read them if you are older. i saw something recently about the mikuni choke being different than the stocker and can cause rich running and lower gas mileage.

not the choke cable itself, but the plunjer on the end of it.... if that didnt get changed, it will definatly make it run rich

IF I remember correctly the HSR plunger is longer. The documentation shows a side by side comparison.

The Keihin plunger will fit in the Mikuni carb, but it's too short to seal properly. The enrichener will, in effect, be "on" all the time if you don't run the right plunger.
