Considering getting this gauge for my S1. Has anyone used it on a Buell? Used it on any bike? www.veypor.com
Thanks Joe

I got one on my XB12SS. I got mixed feelings about it. I am a tech junkie, I love all the little things it can do, but it was a pain in the ass to setup on my XB. My main issue is the wheel speed sensor, you got to run the wire to the rear wheel. Usually it mounts the magnet sensor on the chain sprocket, with the wire mounted on the swing arm. The magnet wouldn't mount to the belt sprocket on my XB, so I had to use the brake rotor side. Perhaps the way I have it mounted sucks, because it gets real hit and miss at times. Also it needs to tap into the ignition coil for the tach reading, and I guess the clip it comes it also sucks, as it gives random readings for the tachometer. I am going to solder the wire on, I hope that gives it a better connection. Also, the thing isn’t waterproof. Mine crapped out the other day in the rain, I had to take it apart and let it sit to dry out, but its good now again. Overall I do like it, but unfortunately its universal design makes it a bit of a bitch to install.

Thanks for the input. Is it the VR2? How close are the rpms to your indicated? My concern is if it will read accurately with the single fire of the S1. Plenty of wire for the speed sensor? Pictures of sensor/magnets if you can.
Thanks
Joe

I will have to get back to you for the pics. The RPMs are spot on once its configured right. Just like when you put any other kind of tach on something, it needs to be setup. Not hard, just had to mash the buttons till it showed up. Hell I did all the experimenting, I will give you the values if you do get it that way you don’t go nuts wondering if the wire has a bad connection. : )
Is the XB firing different than your S1? First time I’ve heard anything like this, but I don't know jack about your tubers.

Thanks for the help. Yes I ordered it today. I don't know for sure but I don't think the XB is single fire, maybe an owner will let us know. Any help will save some head ache.

Not at this point. But I will consider it after I spend some time with it. The VR2 came today so I'm checking it out and planning the install.

Summersville, Trolley RD? I had planned on putting the newer electronic speedometer in the S1 and use the Thunderheart rear wheel sensor and maybe do the same on the S3 instead of installing a correction device. Will keep you cut in. Ran through the setup here at work looks pretty simple just a few thinks like rpm setup is poorly explained. But should be able to figure it out.

Sorry for the delay, here are a few pics

This is the wire for the RPM sensor, it had to splice it into the hot wire for the ignightion.

Better view of the wire

You can see the wire for the speed sensor running along the brake line

Hard to tell, mainly because its buried, but thats the magnet for the speed sensor, and the sensor is taped to the lower part of the axle.

The settings i used for the tach signal is:

Circuit 1
Filter 4
Multiplier 7

My tire size is set to 770 inch.
