while i was riding home today the engine light came on. i checked the codes with a jumper and it showed a 23 and 32. front and rear fuel injector. although the light came on the bike ran fine the entire ride, never missed or loss of power. about a 20 mile ride and it came on as soon as i left work. i just wanted to get some opinions on this. i have a 2000 x1 with a pcII and gutted can. a little over 3000 miles on the clock. maybe a bad connection or something i run 93o gas, what are the chances of both injectors going bad??

thanks

Disconnect the PC, and give it a whirl...

I am more inclined to think a problem with the wiring, logic, or ECM, and, since the PC goes BETWEEN the injectors, and the ECM, and its triggering BOTH injectors...

Just disconnect, the battery, and disconnect the PC, and plug the factory wiring into the injectors, and give it a whirl... see what happens....

Whether it fixed the issue at hand or not, I'd unplug (and discard) the Power Commander.

I agree with Chase, that will likely fix it.

I do not have personal experience with the PC, but I do recall seeing several threads over the last 2+ years stating that the PC does cause the check engine light to come on.
Somehow the ECM knows the injectors stayed open longer then they were told too.

Reading that is why I went with the race ECM (pre-ECM SPY).

So far the power commanders have been a major problem to anyone I know who has tried to use them, it seems like they confuse the ECM on the X1 to the point of, in some cases , total shut-down, and then had to replace the ECM!

"it seems like they confuse the ECM"

That is, actually, the idea behind the Power Commander.

PC+Buell ECM= problems

Race ECM=

If you have JUST a gutted stock muffler, you would be fine with just the Stock ECM, though, I will ALWAYS suggest the RACE ECM, no matter what, its maps, are just superior, bike feels better, responds better, etc...

alright well i took the pc out of the equation and everything ran fine. it runs fine with it other than the engine light being on. i am going to hook my computer up to it with the pc on and see what it says. any ideas why this all of a sudden happend. all the wiring and connections look ok.

I have never seen anyone praise the use of a power commander. Just the idea of it to me was never appealing. GET RID OF IT.

yeah well i may be eliminating the pc and looking for a race ecm. i changed maps to the zero map and still the engine light came on. i checked and rechecked my wiring and connections and they still look ok. on the pcII there is no diagnostic tab so i really cannot bring up the codes through the pc. i can only change air fuel ratios, idle and throtle position. i also emailed the guys and dyno waiting to hear back. i called them awhile back and they were pretty decent for pretty much giving up on the pc for the tubers. if anyone has pcII and lightning experience your welcome to enlighten me other wise i get that the majority of you would dump the pc and go on...

Check engine light is likely an impending problem with the pc.

get the race ecm keep the stocker, read them back with ecm spy and save them.

Me I would like to compare the map in mine to the stock maps and then to another race ecm.

ok well i was riding to work this morning after i removed the pcII and the engine light came on, same thing 23 and 32, front and rear fuel injectors. i poured some sea foam in it a couple days ago but have only riden it a few miles since. should i just ride this tank of gas or what should be my next step?
i downloaded the ecm spyware. it looks pretty straight forward and am looking for a race ecm.

Mine threw a code (front injector) some years ago, back when it was still in warranty.

The vibes from the engine had chafed through one wire above the engine.
Yep, that wire goes to the front injector.

I would suggest feeling up the wiring harness under the tank.

CHECK YOUR CONNECTIONS FIRST.

You will start seeing... oddities when the battery is going...

Trip odo wont keep once you shut the bike off...

and a couple other odd things...

When it dies though, you are SOL... it wont run... SO, as long as you arent in the middle of nowhere, trying to find a AGM battery, on a Sunday IIRC(the Troy, NY dealership was closed)...

it's the battery. mine did the same thing. left me stranded twice. engine light would come on while riding. then BAM all would go dead or start next time. check cables then battery, most likely battery
