I've been using the 15w50 Mobil 1 in my engine for 8 years now (never tried it in the primary, though). I can't consistently find the 20w50 V-twin oil, but the 15w50 is available everywhere, even in grocery stores. If there has been a problem using the more availabe and cheaper 15w50, it hasn't presented itself yet, not in 45,000 miles. |

I am of the opinion that you should always have oil. I have had people tell me to run strait 60W. Others say that syn is too slick for roller bearings and to run conventional. Me(with 70 thou on two Buells) says make sure that you have oil, any oil. |

I'm with Davefl.. can't do without it! I run 15w50 in both primary and crankcase. 45K miles on my 2001 S3T. No problems! |

Normal boring Castrol 20-50 works fine too. Just make sure that you have oil and that you change it. I really don't think any of this fancy stuff makes a difference in reality. (83,000 miles original top end still not burning oil) |

I always used the 15/40 diesel stuff on my other bikes but now that I got the Buell, I thought I'd kick it up a notch. Up here in Canada I'm surprised to find a dearth of 20/50 synthetic at the usual source (Canadian Tire, affectionately known as Crappy Tire). Lotsa 5/50. Logic tells me that shouldnt be a problem. Opinions? |

I ran straight synthetic racing 30 weight for the first 7 yrs, and 5w-40 full synthetic for the last 3 yrs, still have great compression and almost no blow-by. I think clean oil(read change frequently)and proper warm up are much more important to cylinder and bearing longevity than the type and weight of oil used with todays oils and additive packages |
