So two weeks ago I found out what the noise was in my motor, rod bearings. I pulled the oil filter, and it looked like I was pouring black glittery oil from my bike. LOTS of flakes. I am in the process of pulling the motor to send to my buds in Houston for a rebuild. In the process, I have been doing some tear down to save them time and me money. Now I know I need to replace my primary chain, as it is in bad shape. No big deal. I get the clutch basket off and WOW, I have a cracked trans door too! YAY!

Sorry guys, need to vent, any recommendations for the new trans plate? Zippers or Baker any good? One better than the other?

My guess is the bad rod bearings may have contributed to the bad primary chain, and that may have caused the cracked door. Either the Zippers or Baker door is about the same, just make sure it's the right door for you, and not for one of their six-speeds or something.

I recommend Denver Crankshaft, they're top notch. (Now would be a good time to upgrade rods, and if you opt to lighten the flywheels you can get a nice "performance" boost)
