Here is the deal just bought the bike last week, started out with a miss @ cruising speeds. Put in fuel injector cleaner miss gone. The next day went to get on it in first
it bogged bad CEL and a blown ignition fuse. Replaced fuel runs ok but when i open it up in first on low rpm CEL and bog. Well found low oil and header bolt missing. No codes. Runs fine on high way cruising and accelerates well . Only issue is low rpm roll ons if first and mild stumble into second. Any ideas???

oh additional info, buell race pipe, Race ECM, K&N filter looks like a gutted air box. Plugs look good kind of white. Also replaced fuel filter.

Header bolt missing on front or rear head? If it's the rear, you have fresh air getting into the exhaust and it could be sending the O2 sensor out of range...if it's been that way for a long time you could have a dead O2 sensor. Just a guess though, since an exhaust leak usually results in a sensor reading lean, forcing the computer to run rich...

it's the front and it dosn't appear to be leaking(did the soapy water test) called the dealer and they are stumped on this one. Check engine light comes on under heavy throttle in first but no code. hmmm? tough one.

Sounds fine up until it dies. It runs great besides the open throttle in first. Sounds normal just boggs down until i lay off the throttle.

The check engine light comes on but you can't get it to give you a code?
That's not possible, is it?

Theoretically, no...

How are you checking for a code?

It is entirely possible for the CEL to come on without throwing a code. Overheat mode, for one. Which also cuts ignition.

I would clean up all the grounds, first, and start looking at sensor outputs.

My light started making an appearance when I was losing my voltage regulator. Low voltage = runs like crap.
Do the test in the manual.....
