So the cost of gas has finally outweighed my fear of trashing my S2 and I've been riding more than driving lately. Unfortunately my bike is old since, well, she's an S2, and a few things could use attention. Anyone know where I might find fork seals (and maybe some instruction on how to disassemble the bloody things) and a front rotor? I've also discovered that it is both good and bad working at a machine shop (again). We have a couple of slow weeks coming up, and my boss bought an SV650 last week, so now he's all for my making stuff The clip-ons will be easy (CNC rocks), the rearsets... not so much |

Well, I know some are vehemently against it, but you could get your Buell parts at a Buell dealer. Or, mayhap American Sport Bike has them. |

Oh, duh, forgot to mention that part. Apparently the dealers in Houston all got together and decided to bone all of us on fast bikes. The only one I know of that still handles Buell is Mancuso, and they... let's say they aren't high on my list. I know the drill at the H-D shop 5 miles from my place, though. Walk in, ask for parts for a 95 1200 Sportster, hand over deed to house, walk out with a handfull of screws. Unfortunately they have nothing for the Buell specific parts. American Sport Bike will be getting a good bit of my cash, though. I really want to find a stock front rotor (and grips, now that I think about it) since my bike is about 99% stock. It looks like they have the seals, bushings, etc. for the forks. |

The stock rotor is OK...but when my rotor bushing holes wallowed out I replaced it with an EBC rotor and LOVE it. I was amazed at how much better it works than the stocker. Granted, it does block the view of the Marchisini a bit more...but for the stopping power, I'm learning to live with it PM me if you need dealer stuff... |

There are no S2 parts that can not be purchased from a Buell dealer. |

If you work in a machine shop it will be really easy and cheap for you to make a new disk to fit your S2 disk carrier. |

I had my fork seals replaced just last week on my s2. I bought the seals from my dealership at about 13 bucks a piece, then took the seals and forks to another local shop that does mostly dirt bikes and street bikes and had them do the labor. It was like 40 bucks per fork for them do do the seals plus fork oil. It cost me about 125 to have fork seals replaced, which was a far cry from my dealership wanting about 400 to do them. |

Ratbuell, I'm considering an EBC. I had a pair on my last Ninja and they were great. Court, what about the bushing retainer things? Classicbuells, I thought about that, but we build small, benchtop size CNC mills and even our knee mill isn't big enough to handle a rotor. Not enough y travel. Pizzaboy, I'd rather do the work myself, but if I get in over my head there are a ton of small shops around here. I don't trust the one Buell dealer as far as I can throw 'em, so they aren't going to touch my bike. |

I'd have to check at work on Friday (it's my weekend, woo-hoo!) but I'd suspect all the parts to rebuild the forks are readily available. As Court pointed out to me a couple months ago, even the S2 bodywork is still / once again available brand new from the factory. If, by "bushing retainer things", you mean the brake rotor buttons...they are available. I bought a set for my stock rotor (the updated rotor where the rotor is in the same plane as the carrier, not the original S2 where they're "stacked") not six months ago. They worked alright, but then I scored the EBC and stopped worrying about it (good thing, since my carrier is what was worn, not the buttons). |

"There are no S2 parts that can not be purchased from a Buell dealer." Copy that. I just ordered a new turn signal from the dealer cheaper than NOS was selling for on Ebay, and I didn't have to pay shipping. H-D/Buell of Baton Rouge is my hook-up. |

Ratbuell, not the brake buttons, the plastic caps that go on the end of the inner fork tubes. Suppose I'll have to break down and go to Mancuso. Not my favorite shop on the planet. |
