If you are looking for the larger collector I believe the 98 S1W header still goes outside the frame and has the 2.5" collector.

i didnt notice how different the S1 and S2/ S1 frame is.

one of our members is selling his header/drummer muffler on ebay at the moment. i would really like a drummer over my V&H muffler... plus this specific exhaust is jet hot coated black...

damn, i dont think its going to work.. the S2 frame goes pretty far down on the sides.

I've read on this website, in the past that a newer tuber header will fit the S1's, fitting the pipe in under the frame, but don't know if it would apply to an S2 as well.

I'm a bit of a skeptic, I've got an extra 99+ header, if there is anyone local with a 97-98 tuber let's see if it would fit...

Anyway you may want to browse the kv and see if you can find something more definitive before you rule it out.

I know I got a pic of a S2 with the X1 exhaust somewhere (I will look tonight), but I believe I read that you had to beat the hell out of it to make it fit the frame...

I think the angled air cleaner of an S2 is also an issue with an X1/S3/M2 style header...

Ratbuell is correct about having to sacrifice the air cleaner. And the Drummer mufflers are for the XB series only IIRC. So they won't fit a tuber since part of the muffler space for the Drummer is occupied by the rear shock.
The S2 has limited options for header/muffler combos. Stock header is 2" whereas later T-Storm bikes had 2.5" collectors (among other differences) so you're stuck with either the V&H or trying to find an old design Supertrapp for the most part.
If you can find an S2 Race Kit setup (headers and Supertrapp) it will get you the 2.5" headers, but they are difficult to locate and slightly spendy if you manage to find one.

I have the old external disc Supertrapp I took off my S2 if anyone's looking. I put on a Buell race can (2.5" inlet) with the stock 2" header and a cheap-o $4 2"-2.5" Walker exhaust adaptor. Spaces out perfectly : )

i have a forcewinder intake, so the fitment there wouldnt be an issue, but im just wondering if the frame would clearance properly so that the later tuber exhaust will fit.

i dont mind doing mild fabrication to make the bracketry fit properly.

since the drummer exhaust on the specific item im looking at was under an X1, i would assume that it would perform for both the sporty/lightning/tstorm engines.. it was not on an XB engine originally.

Get your details correct gentleman. Kevin Drum built the first "Drummers" for "tubers". The one on ebay belongs to me and Kevin built it for my S3(1999). I believe this one was one of the last(if not the last) Drummer ever built for a tuber. I have no idea if the header will work on an S2. The muffler may work with a original S2 header provided you use a step from 2" to 2.5" off of the original S2 header. This muffler's inlet is 2.5". Thanks for checking. BR.

pizzaboy..
the x1 under the frame header can be put on an s2 but must be "flattened out". have heard of one person doing this but do not think i would go this route.. you can put another s2 exhaust on with a performance muffler.. or if you want to go larger. you can use a early race headers and cans, expensive, but would view it as a good investment if you are going to start modding your motor.. or the cheaper route would be an early s3 style header and muffler. would give you the 2 1/2" exhaust like the race header and can, but with shorter primary tubes..
here is a picture of a early s3 header on an s2. warning on some, or many they hit the air cleaner.. hope this helps.. my profile pick should show a 2nd gen race header and can on a s2 also..
