I just snagged a MIkuni HRS42 easy kit for Buell/Sportster. Its brand new. Got it from a local fella. It has a bag with two extra jets in it. A 155 and a 165. I havent read the manual yet but am assuming it has a 160 in it. Im a stock 2002 M2 cept for a HBBI intake. Before I install this puppy, are there any pointers I should know....Im excited.....

I think you will find that it is going to be very close for your setup. After you get it running I would close the gap down on the accelerator pump. Main jet is a snap to swap and needle adjustments are just a tank removal away. Check out the mikuni site they have excellent tuning guide if one isn't provided with the kit.
Good luck
Joe

Well, I gotta say, these Meecoonie karbs, are sure finicky but easy to tweek. I have no more missing under power so that is cured but at very small openings, the thing would fart thru the carb more than enuff to be annoying(the cv did it occasionally). Anyhow, it took about an hour of riding and adjusting the Idle screw at about an 8th of a turn at a time to find the sweet spot. Now it does not fart thru the carb and it doesnt pop thru the muffler when I back off.

Heres that part Im not too sure about, I did the roll on test in 4th gear wide open and quickly backed off the throttle an 8th of a turn. While it did NOT accellerate any harder, it also did NOT accellerate any less harder. Am I slightly lean, do you think?? Probably not "jetworthy" but mebey raising the needle a tad??? Opinions???
Thanks
Percy
