Okay, I've tried most everything; rebuilt caliper, manual pump and bleed, break open banjo bolts, mity-vac, removed and hung the brake assembly and even the backward feed syringe method. Still, a spongy lever and with no evidence of air bubbles when I bleed. Next stop is a rebuild of the master cylinder. I've been religious about changing brake fluid every year so I wouldn't think I have a bad master cylinder. Has anyone had any experiences like this? '00 S3 | ||

Front, or rear? I've seen many issues on the rear with a piston over-retracting into the caliper, which makes it seem like it won't bleed out. Patience, and holding the caliper in all sorts of weird positions to remove air, helps. I've never had an issue on the front. | ||

I use a wedge to hold the lever back 1/4 inch and crack the bleeder. Leave it overnight with a full MCyl. All the air bubbles will come out. | ||

It's the front -- I'll try the wedge and leave overnight. Has anyone just purchased a radial master cylinder instead? Thanks for the input. | ||

Yup. I had the same problem. I got the brembo radial. Love it. I can email you pics if you pm me your email address. Hate that resizing deal. | ||

try bleeding it back words with a hose on the caliper bleeder with a zip tie full of fluid when you bleed it it will let the air out and pull in fluid i had to do this on my rear caliper. | ||

Tried that -- didn't work. I'm going to try a rebuild of the MC. Thanks. |
